Description Something very different for me.
Pop art.
I made this as a print for my kitchen wall in my new apartment in Montreal. I hope my roommate likes it and won't want me to take it down, haha.

As I said, it's something new from me but I think it's one of my favourite pieces I've done to date. Let me know what you think.

I like it!
I have tried to do something like that with a bright yellow water gun on a purple background but I couldn't manage to change colors nicely. I used The Gimp instead of Photoshop and I guess it doesn't have the same options and parameters...

Thanks. Just keep trying with colourful shot and eventually you start getting things to look how you want.
I haven't used the Gimp, but being a loyal Photoshop fan it does have many parameters and fun little tricks.
Thanks again.

Maybe you can start using The Gimp... you will help me out finding option...
Just kidding...
Take care!
Karine.

You amaze me, so much natural talent.

Question, how did you light this?

Thanks Lyds.
It was just a camera mounted flash and the whole thing was shot on my kitchen counter back home.

I AM REMINDED OF WARHOL.

OVERLOAD, OVERLOAD.

Actually, this is very, very good. Like I said in your other shot, the perspective could use some adjustments, but the concept is great, and since you are able to pull off that poppy Warhol look, even better.

alkaline In reply to mc-armstrong [2004-10-17 04:40:32 +0000 UTC]

Mmmm Warhol. I wasn't even meaning it to Warholesque while making it. But then a friend pointed that out and I kind of stepped back and said "Yeah, you know, you're right" and had a little chuckle.
Thanks for the comment and the favourite.

Hey remember when I asked you to try something with an Elliott Smith photo for me so I wouldn't have to pay $90 for an 8x10 pop art photo?

You bastard.

But yes. This is lovely.

It's very hard to critique this, as technically it's very good indeed. The only fault may be that there are none...
It's a very still piece, minimal in detail. Makes me wonder how they got there, as there is no sign of life as such (a spill, fingerprints on the glass etc.).
Wonderful choice of colours which really complement each other

Pridhams Studio. They're great people and it's not too costly.
If you ever have any questions about film, cameras or photography in general they usually have the answers, they helped me out a lot when I was starting. I had no idea what a light meter was, hahaha.
