its just why. its so random and silly even though it was their image. its like having an old person's power chair transform into a robot lol. i honestly thought they were decepticons at first since decepticons are normally all crummy and dirty looking for the most part. though a two in one was surprising.

Hey, Hasbro made the toaster-bot (which I do have). They might consider that eventually.

When it all comes down to it, this is the phrase that sums it up for a Transformers movie: "profitable marketing". That's all the cartoons and movies have been for was to sell toys (that's why the Twins are the ice cream truck and the separate cars; same goes for Bumblebee's re-scanning in Movie 1). Heck, the original G1 series was only supposed to only be the first three episodes, but it got the kids wanting the toys so much, they kept going with it, introducing new characters along the way just so they could sell toys (which they did). Now that we've got live action films, they're STILL promoting their toys, but this time, they're selling new cars at the same time, expanding the profits. That's why, despite the rash (and usually unnecessary) bad reviews, the Transformers films are a success. People see and like the movie, buy the merchandise), and the companies are happy.

Same thing goes for the American Godzilla, only it ended up being a "flop" - the movie made money, but people didn't like it to the point of refusing to buy the tie-in merchandise, and those companies didn't profit. Trendmasters made some bucks on the King of the Monsters, Godzilla Wars, and Doom Island lines (which were based on the Japanese Godzilla, of course), but they dropped Godzilla like a rock because of the loss they took. Heck, I haven't seen a product newer than the '98 Zilla toys from them. After Doom Island, that was probably the last time companies could afford a license for Toho characters other than Godzilla himself.

Even so, I actually like the design and Zilla as a separate character, just not as Godzilla. The cartoon makes the exception since he lived up to the name. Shame people got too distraught over the movie, otherwise we'd have gotten the toys from it.

well that big business my friend. if theres money to be made theyll exploit it. the 2nd movie sucked devastator's balls. there was so many holes in the story that if you fell through one youd end up in china.

as you now i am a HUGE fan of Zilla. i liked the movie. never saw the animated series though. i actually got a toy of em lol. had it since i was 5.

You'd definitely like the animated series. I consider Zilla, Jr. (as most fans call him) "Godzilla" because he lives up to the name. Heck, he even has the classic charcoal gray of the Japanese Godzilla, breathes fire, and tends to stand upright a few times.

Oh yeah i would love the animated series. i always read about it and look at pictures of the various monsters. I love Zilla. he does live up to his counterpart's name for hes a true fighter. hes also very nice and very smart. I honestly think hes one of the few kaiju who could actually defeat godzilla. i mean hes quick, agile, strong and above all smart. and due to his great reputation hed probably even get the aid of the US military.

i got to watch that sometime.

a contest is a really great idea for you to do. itll get your name out there and make you well known as well as show the DA community your awesome work. any idea what the theme of it will be?

i got an idea why dont you do a HB Godzilla contest? you said you RARELY see redesigns of him so why dont you go with that?

oh yeah those were great. but its better if real artists participate in it. i dont want an easy way to do it.

its be interesting for you and me seeing HB godzilla designs. theyre rarely seen.
