huff, pant ..... got this one done on time just before the new horizons probe's fly-by of everyone's favourite little dwarf planet Pluto.
i almost thought i would miss the opportunity to do a revamp of this dinosaur----> i did years back.
its amazing how much my art changed since then. its also amazing how much our understanding of Pluto and its moons also improved as well.
for example, we now know that Pluto has a large polar ice cap along with dark patches along its equator, and that its largest moon Charon has an anti-polar cap and a large impact crater. all of these features i tried to depict as accurately as i could in the remake, including the colours. this image was mostly a whole lot of editing, and tweaking.
oh, and i will be making a wallpaper pack of this image so that you all could enjoy Pluto for as long as your eyes crave, right there on your desktop. you guys should see it a little after this post.

i don't think it would make sense doing a texture for these bodies as we now have their maps from new horizons.

Where else will you find a binary planet setup where the two orbit around a common gravity point.

um, well pluto and charon are really the only binary planet-type we know of in our system, however there are many binary asteroids and, jupiter and the sun form somewhat of a binary system as their common center of mass lies outside the sun.

Awesome work, but not as awesome as Pluto and Charon. I'm still drooling with those impressive images and data from New Horizons -and can't wait to see IAU naming surface features on both Pluto and Charon, if those proposed get accepted-

I love how we finally got a good look at the planet named after the god of death and it has a huge heart on its side
