It was quite some time ago i haven't been posting any art for this past years, the main reason of my absent was I was very frustrated with myself and my skills, that is why for the past 3 years I switch to full time Gunpla building instead, and during those time of artistic depression, things are not getting any better, as more and more avoided incident and events that further pulled me down, and it was tiring and frustrating, but I still have to keep on moving, in a way i have switch myself to autopilot.At those depressing time I was looking for inspiration and to my surprise Forrest Gump movie gave me a bit of comfort and encouragement during those hard time, a very simple story of a simple man doing great things even without him knowing it and the message was so powerful that it inspired me to sketch out this little doodle on what happen if Alphaleo met Forrest Gump in the park, and i believe this is what forrest would say.
For 2012, I was hoping to get back into drawing again. I am not sure will i get this color but for now i just keep it as a sketch.

Totally understandable friend. I had the same problem when I was customizing Hotwheels cars. Couldn't find the time, didn't know what to color it, right wheels weren't available, etc. Art is much the same. Artist block happens and testing of your patients and skill level.

It's such a true thing, sometimes we mean more to things and others than we truly know, so the best we can do is try to understand others, and understand ourselves even more, and it's great to see you're back in action! ^^

in a way i do hope my art can be inspiration for others, but in a way i myself lack inspiration to draw or paint for those past 3 years, hopefully i can get back on the saddle again

It's excellent to see new artwork from you, Alpha, and a very sweet way to start the new year...no pun intended. ^_^ Forrest Gump has always been a nice inspiration for me...
The piece is also very neat in the fact that Gump probably wouldn't even be fazed in the least by meeting a furry, or a scaly, or an alien or dragon...he's just an unconditionally accepting fellow.
Thank you for sharing this piece...and I'm looking forward toward other inspirations you have in the future...hopefully I'll be able to contribute to that inspiration, also.

I understand what you went through. I was the same too, frustrated that I never got any better, my friends always drawing scads of awesome art while I continued to stink. I'm glad you found a way out of that pit.

I'm glad you are back. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we love your works. Whether they are big or small, we enjoy them.
You always brighten up our days with your creativity.
I can understand that you always want to do something better, and that you are never fully satisfied with your talent. That's a problem most artists have, particularly the good ones like you.
So relax, you are doing a wonderful job. You bring so much joy to so many people. Many people like your style. For example I'm particularly fond of the way you make your characters look both awesome and cute, the way your draw clothes and mechanics. My favorite image of yours is the "Anthro Zoid" one which combines all the things I really like about your art.

somehow i saw my frustration as i am not good enough to compete with many other artist, and trying so hard to be something i am not, in a way it only makes me more frustrating until i decided to shut myself off for 3 years.

Well self-doubt is common among people who are good. I can understand that you are worried about competition, but keep in mind that there are only few who are at your level. Further more artists are different. Even if you don't get a particular job that doesn't that you are bad, it just means that your tastes and interests are different than the ones of the client.
Again, I think I speak for all of us, when I say, you are amazing. Surely you think you aren't perfect, but there is no such thing as 'perfection' in art.

Well you are a very competent artist anybody can made doodles but not the detail that you does. Maybe what you need is to test new things and styles.

As someone who's also been having his own issues (and without a doubt too many others), fustration over artistic progress (or there lack of) is something I can relate to, among other things. I guess among other things that caught my attention was that it is a drawing of Forest Gump, a movie I remember seeing as a kid way back when, and saw every few years, and saw it again a few days ago.
It is a powerful film, it says a lot, and it can say a lot for how people react to it (or anything for the mater), and well, it's very touching and several kinds of awesome, pretty emotional if I may say so.
I guess all else I can say is, time will tell with everything, and I hope things can go well for you (and everybody else).

i agree on that, i actually never saw forrest gump only in 2010, during the 90s i just thought it was a boring film and never gave it a chance wacthing it, 15 years later i began to understand what it means
