Description
It was quite some time ago i haven't been posting any art for this past years, the main reason of my absent was I was very frustrated with myself and my skills, that is why for the past 3 years I switch to full time Gunpla building instead, and during those time of artistic depression, things are not getting any better, as more and more avoided incident and events that further pulled me down, and it was tiring and frustrating, but I still have to keep on moving, in a way i have switch myself to autopilot. At those depressing time I was looking for inspiration and to my surprise Forrest Gump movie gave me a bit of comfort and encouragement during those hard time, a very simple story of a simple man doing great things even without him knowing it and the message was so powerful that it inspired me to sketch out this little doodle on what happen if Alphaleo met Forrest Gump in the park, and i believe this is what forrest would say.
For 2012, I was hoping to get back into drawing again. I am not sure will i get this color but for now i just keep it as a sketch.

I just had this pop into my Favorites, and I figured I would drop a line...I hope things have gotten better for you over the last nine months...and I understand all to well how being overwhelmed by real life and depressed can be a huge drain on the creative process.
**Pats the white lionoid's shoulders**
If you need anything or just want someone to talk with, by all means drop me a line...perhaps it may help.
Take care of yourself, my friend, and stay awesome.

I'm Very amazed You're Still Alive and Around Here after 10 Years. I'm so Happy to see your Work Again.
You're Very right... It's not Good to have Expectations and Think too much About what will OTHER PEOPLE Think about your work. If you do, It'll just make you think More... and do Less... and the less you do will make you feel more Frustrated.. and the more frustrated.. the more Depressed and depression into Lack of Motivation.
you just have to do... and do and make, and do what you Feel like doing.
I have a long story behind this... but I used to think I would love to work as an animator/ilustrator... but after 3 years of expereince, I realised how FRUSTRATED it got me... and Today I'm Studying to work as a computer enginier, and have Drawing/Animating as a Hobby, Because It's what makes me Feel Better.
Dont let your Thoughts about other people's opinions take over your Actions and WILL to Draw what YOU Want.. YOU ARE The one Who is Drawing and Expressing Himself, NOT The Viewers.
I Missed your Art alot, I'm Very Glad to see new Stuff from you, and I hope you have a Wonderful and Motivating 2012!!!

Awww ;v; I went through the exact same thing (heck, the same span of years too!!) during my undergrad college years. But instead of Gunpla building, I got into studying Japanese. But I'm glad I got back into drawing again, and I hope you do too!

I've always loved your drawings. I was kind of bummed when you went off into model building. You're really good at bringing life and emotion to your characters. I hope that if you enjoy it you'll keep drawing. It would be a shame to waste a talent like yours.

Goddamn it, not you too. I got myself into depression years ago and ended up wasted so much time on World of Warcraft only dug the hole deeper for me. Even to this day I still haven't completely got over the depression and self-loathing.
Consider you are so much greater than me, It'd be a bloody shame to lose you to the same demon that still clutches me.
We both need to do the same thing and talk to you another time Ray.

I can understand how finding the drive is difficult. Sometimes you have the ideas, but translating that "Great Idea" from your head to paper(be in painting, singing, photography, whatever) is ...
Taxing, Exhausting and Draining.
Sometimes no matter how much you try, what lands on the paper is never equal to what you pictured in your head. We've all been there at one point or another, some of us just sit there longer than others. It doesnt mean that any of us are "bad" artists, it just means there is some 'piece' needed to move us forward and we havent found it ...
yet.
Keep that last phrase in mind whenever you doubt your skills at art, there is a "piece" needed to move us forward and we havent found it ... yet.
What that piece is will vary from person to person, it could be that one song you never heard(or see from a new perspective), a new outlook on life, a new style of art. It could be anything.
About all I can say, and this is coming from a guy frustrated with his inability to write. So I fully understand what you mean by the whole dissatisfaction thing.

inspiration is like life. You never know when, where, or what until you get there. :3
Inspiration easily evades me too. I find that it's mostly because i'm living life in neutral. I don't have the drive to go, but i'm not quite stuck in the same spot either. Just kind of drifting through, waiting for the next downward hill to speed me along. I don't draw very often at all. Sometimes, I help my fiance with detailing, but that's not really my own work. I have found that I got a bit of a nack for animations though, and they're really quite fun once i'm passed the long hours of constant adjustments. Music helps time pass faster too, lol. I think it's just all about doing what you love, and creating from the imagination.

I've missed your artwork more than you can imagine. It's what made me watch you all those years ago.
I don't assume I'd know what you were going through when you put the pencil down but if you pick it back up and run with it again, you very well may be surprised at the outcome. Give it a try for yourself and perhaps those that miss your expression.

God always watches out for the meek, the humble and the heartbroken. You can be sure, like Forrest, that you'll be someone great without even trying, through His blessing. You have always been a great artist.

Eventually Lt. Dan thanked Forrest for saving his life 'cos he realised there was something there worth saving. Even though he's extremely bitter and felt useless at first but Lt. Dan is still lifted up in the end

great to see you trying again alphaleo.
just take it easy and slow back to where you came from in life
and you will see that the light on the end of the tunnel is not always
the oncomming train but can also be the end of the darkness.
i wish you all the best for this new year.
