last month i bought an artbook 'Shoji Kawamori design works' which an artbook i have long waited for, previously i did have an another 'Shoji Kawamori' artbook on macross design, this is the first time all his works are compile into one thick book, i'm so happy about the book which included the compile design work of his famous macross, Aquarions, armored core, Eureke 7, cyber fomula and a lot of other work. just for some info on who is shoji kawamori. he is the creator of the original macross, macross plus, seven and zero, other famous work he did was armored core (PS2), cyber fomula, some minor work on gundam stardust memory, Escafloner, nd his most recent Aquarions and Eureke 7.I have always said my mecha style is very much influenced by Shoji Kawamori's style, probably i grew up with cartoons like macross. since then i have been a avid fan of any mecha, and i drew more mecha art than any art since young roughly since school days i have been drawing mecha. but i did stop doing mecha art for quite sometime since 2004. only few months ago i did try to draw some mecha and it seems i still haven't lose my touch yet but i still need to work harder to improve my mecha art.
For the moment i have been doing my LionKing anthro artwork, watching 'Eureka 7' and Zoids Genesis' anime since there are not much thing to watch.
I have always wanted to be a mecha designer more than being an animator but sadly Malaysia are not yet ready for this type of work. taking up 3D is something i should since i have such passion for mecha, oh ya here is one crappy 3D i did trying out 3D max for the first time [link]

freaking gr! I wish I could draw mecha as detailed as that! *is jealous* I've been improving my understanding of mechanical, or 'stiff' things bt drawing Anthromorphic Aircraft as of late.
Hey, I'm working on a Neural Feedback suit for a mech called a 'nuke' that my BF has made for a game. I was wondering if, when I post the picture, you'd be willing to give me some tips and feedback on how to improve on it. Y'know, since you're t3h 1337 m4574h, and all that.

Meh, you're not missing much. I'm a CAD-monkey for things like 3D Max, and seriously, it would be nice if a company would be contracted for mechas or something. Closest thing is Lockheed Martain with wings that can change shape in mid-dair or during a dive. If I remember correctly, I believe it's the power supply that's the main problem. However, there is a group of people who've started this as a pet project here in Southern California. They've been constantly showing their work and updates at Anime Expo, and if I remember correctly, have pretty much gotten the legs to work. So far, I believe it's designed for 20 ft.
In any case though, those do look very nice works. That and I can't believe you're watching Eureka 7. I may love mecha manga, but somehow I find there's too much nonsense in that anime.

well, there are not much anime mecha to watch now, so might as well barrow some anime form friend and watch, Eureka was one, so far i only seen 13 episode and story flow is pretty slow and very hard for me to jugde anything, mecha design was fairly nice thanks to shoji kawamori design but i doesn't like the organic type of design.
