Description Northern filter civhale (top)
Scientific name:
Length: 21 feet
Weight: 4 tons
Habitat: oceans
Native region: Arctic Ocean
Evolved from: civet
Lifespan: 50 years

- Civhales come in 3 subfamilies. Gracilignathidae (thin jaws), Latagnathidae (broad jaws), and finally Saccognathidae (filter jaws). The northern filter civhale belongs to the Saccognathidae family. A group of civhales that are closely related to thin jawed civhales but collect food similarly to today’s baleen whales. They open their wide mouths when hunting a school of fish or krill and use their teeth to strain them in. These animals possess teeth that resembles crab eating seals teeth. Once they catch their meal, they dispel water out of their blowhole.
- Filter civhales are calm and peaceful. Swimming through the arctic seas in pods of 15. Their only predators are hunter civhales and young calves are vulnerable to Jaguar otteals and polar devil bears.

Gulper civhale (bottom)
Scientific name:
Length: 40-50 feet
Weight: 25 tons
Habitat: oceans
Native region: south Atlantic
Evolved from: civhale
Lifespan: 50 years

- another example of a filter civhale, the gulper civhale is a massive gentle giant of the Southern Hemisphere. Reaching 50 feet long, the gulper civhale is one of the largest of its kind (although they’re a few species that are far bigger). Adults have few predators although calves are vulnerable to shark attacks.
- Filter civhales broke off from thin jawed civhales around 47 myf ( late Eoxenocene ). Although they kept the long thin jaws, their teeth became modified to consume krill and schools of fish. Every species of filter jawed civhales possess a expendable neck that allows it to swallow gulps of water like modern whales.
