You can trust me that if I'd seen this in a more timely manner, you would have received a lavish comment much earlier!

Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen anyone put such work into free doodles. Of course, I should have known you're never the kind to skimp on effort so even your request-art would turn out lovingly crafted.
I would have to say my favourite part about this is how you adapted the character to your own style. I've always liked the way you do your own takes on characters so I was looking forward to seeing what you came up with for Cerberus, but I couldn't have imagined anything like this! Out of all the times other people have drawn my characters, I think this one looks the most different from my own style - which is a good thing, because it's not as interesting if people just draw them the same way I do! I love how although the drawing style is so totally different, you've still captured everything about the character. I think it's a real skill to be able to pull off a fusion like that.
The adaptation that stood out the most when I first saw it was the face - the long snout, big teeth/spikes and bulging eyes look so different, yet so cool. Then I started to notice other features, like the way the wings are somehow both angular and curved, the long reptilian tail, the bony legs and details in the chest/shoulder anatomy (it's so great how you draw him more cartoonish and manage to make him look like he has a believable skeletal structure!).
I love the colouring too - the little speckles are a great way to show different textures as well as give more depth to the shading. And hey, you can't go wrong by giving something a sparkly look! (. . . Actually, now that I think about it, sparkles can go horribly wrong . . . which is yet another testimony to how successful you were with this.)
So, although it took me forever to tell you, rest assured that I love this, and I really appreciate you doing this for me. Thank you so much! I am now going to print it off and stick it on my wall so that I can stare at it endessly and try to make up for the month I spent not looking at it . . .

Thanks! Yeah, my original intention was to have these just be messy doodles, but as I started working I decided I didn't want to give people that. I want these to look fairly nice. Which is why I'm still not finished with all of them
The same principles I use for my usual fanart, I use for other people's characters. I mean, why just draw them the same way they've been drawn before? Fusing the character with one's personal style is important.

It's true, drawing others' characters just isn't as interesting if you draw them in the same style as the original artist. Especially if you're doing it as a gift/request for them and not just "fanart" - because if you just draw the character in same style as the original artist, they might as well have drawn it themselves! I think it's always much more interesting to see different stylistic interpretations of the same character, rather than just different poses.
