Description
I believe that part of becoming an artist is being able to revisit older works and investing some time into fixing mistakes and advancing them. I submitted the original piece for this just over a year ago, and whilst it was one of my favourite pieces, it remained riddled with a few mistakes that I really didn't enjoy seeing. So this is to see how far I've progressed, and to do the piece justice. Now, the stupid thing is, that when I decided to do this, I realised that the .psd is on a different computer, so all adjustments have been edited directly from the .jpg. I've removed some nasty parts, changed others, and added more detail. Hopefully, it's a better piece because of it.
I know it isn't realistic with the planet easily visible through the atmosphere, but rules are made to be broken, right?. It's meant to bring out that concept of contrast better.
Anyway, I'll stop wittering, I had fun with this one, and that's probably me down for a while due to exams. For some reason every time I open terragen I draw a blank, but I guess it's all part of the learning curve. Enjoy the new hotness.

Could you make something just of that nova in the top center? That's my favorite part of the whole piece, and I think it could be a deviation in itself. Just wondering.

yeay for non-realism..
when looking at your work you realize there are loads of impossible things..
the close planets, the fact that there isn't an atmosphere..etc.. but yet you succeed in making it look good.. even great..
that's what I love the most in your works..
great job ..

Oo-er, Whilst I kinda like the changes individually, it makes the old one look like French TV. Overloud, overcoloured, overpowering. A bit blarey for me, mate, but what the heck. The seperate changes, like I said, awesome stuff, and you sized down the land! Woohoo! It was way too blurry last time, nice work.

Again with another powerful piece, very attractive. One thing I always notice with your pieces is the high contrast or sharpness of many of the key features or points of interest, really that is what makes this piece feel more along the lines of fantasy.
Very nice piece.

What rules? Is there rules in that vast exspance of space (as far as vision is concerned that is )
You say its un-realistic but who really knows with other planets and their atmospheres and other plants near them within the seemingly neverending space up there? Its a fantastic
Let the imagination run riot

Love the work!!! It reminds me of a graffitti artist that spray painted planet/space-scapes in Austin, TX on 6th Street. What program do you use?
