Description ... or you may sink!

I was thinking of the theme 'success or failure' and somehow riding bike over water came up, since it's almost impossible to do. But it could look really cool if you did. Then this story developed about a person who lives in some type of lake village (...in Canada or Washington state maybe?) who rides his bike around collecting messages in bottles...

More pieces related to this story will follow probably...

I named the guy Pike after the fish.

Funny how a story can spring up from one simple idea, eh? And I think this one is marvelous!
Such a beautiful atmosphere in the drawing~ >w<

Aw, thanks, that means a lot. And yes it is funny how your mind can wander so much just from one picture, hah! I really think about what type of lighting the peice will have... clear, foggy, ect. before I start.

I thought it was snow but it was actually the sea -the fishes are so cute!- and my word this is such a fantastically adorable idea.

This is beautiful Amanda!
Love the subtle details like the shadows the fish cast.

Thanks a lot. Yeah, giving shadows in water adds so much depth so easily!

Beautiful! Very dynamic composition!
I want his sweater.
And his scarf.
And his ability to cycle on water...

Gaaah, I love this. xD Specifically, I love the buildings and how the supports and ladder are all crooked. The bike, the water, and the guy are all nice as well, but those houses are simply awesome.

Ooh, that's a neat idea. You did a great job capturing the intense movement needed for such a journey! I also think the colors are fantastic...nice and icy!

Thanks! It was particularly hard to draw the water. I ended up drawing just lots of scribbles and then painting over ones I liked.
