Description
The Char Souffleur or FT Chasse-Neige is an experimental snow blower based on the Renault FT fitted with two large turbines, designed in 1934 by Mr. Roul, a Public Works Engineer. The Renault FT used for the plan was lent by the army to service Hautes-Alpes for work and to conduct various tests with the obligation to return the vehicle to its initial state afterwards. If the design was a success, it was planned for vehicles of this type to be stationed on airfields and to be used for chemical warfare decontamination. During peacetime it would be used for civilian duties such as clearing snow from roads. The design was essentially a snow blower system attached to a Renault FT. Only the single FT given by the army was ever converted and nothing became of the project.
