My coup de grace giftart for the sweet and talented lady who made a story about the Great Mouse Detective protagonist Basil of Baker Street, a story I can personally attest I will forever find haunting and beautiful. I'm mailing the original to you soon, Ethel, dear!!!!!!!
This version by the way isn't totally done in coloring, but I'm back in classes now so I don't think I'll have time soon to finish it.

I don't think we've ever met, but I have seen your name around in comment form to friend's submissions. I came late into the GMD fandom (2007) and missed a lot of what was offered as far as art and stories go. I read Ethel's story a long time ago and thought I found all works of art done for it. This one slipped by me, unfortunately, but now that I found it, I wanted to comment and tell you how much I...love...it.
You've captured so much emotion in their faces and on top of that, made it a stunning work of art with the use of the many different types of media. Paint was used, yes? And it looks like colored pencils were used, too. I literally can't stop staring at it. They were so in love in the story and it was such a beautiful relationship they had, too.
In hopes of keeping the fandom somewhat active, I created a Group not too long ago, #TheGamesAfoot , and with your permission, I would like to add this piece there. It would be an honor to have it in the group's gallery, and I mean that sincerely.

I wish I could say I was still an active fan, but that was between six and four years ago, and a falling-out with two of the more BNF fans made it difficult for me to participate too actively in extant communities.

Well to begin with, have you read Ethel's (MouseLady's) fanfiction of the same title? THis is based on that, a fanwork, not on the film or novels.

Despite the fact that the coloring is rather rough and the drawing raw with practice, I really can't resist putting this into my fanart collection because I love the emotions portrayed in this. Elizabeth is quite beautiful, yet sad, and Basil just looks so heartbroken. It's very touching.

The coloring is just amazing and I adore the posing. SO awesome. I just wish I could read the end of this fan fic because it seems a lot of other people have read it but I can't find part 2 anywhere on 's site. I wanna read the rest ;_;
