Description Rumiko Takahashi owns Sesshomaru-Sama and Inuyasha.

The scenario: Inuyasha has been killed, and Sesshomaru is moved to revive his brother with Tenseiga, the Sword of Healing/Heaven.

This is a ROUGH ROUGH draft, a BARE BONES SKETCH, and I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO WITH THE NEXT STAGES. PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK. I DON'T want CRITIQUES, because I am aware of errors--what I want is suggestions for what to do in terms of color, iconographical details, setting, etc. I am trying to go for a Renaissance triangular compositional approach, because I am trying to convey symbolically compassion of an almost religious sort on Sesshomaru's part.

Perhaps it would help to give an explanation (albeit lengthy). If you are interested, please read. It would help me if you would, because if you are informed, you can give me more useful suggestions:

It seems like there are hundreds of instances in the InuYasha anime, films, and manga in which, as their sibling relationship develops from simple loathing to something more complex, Sesshomaru saves Inuyasha's life.

Sesshomaru and Inuyasha are half-brothers. They share the same father, Inu no Taisho, a dog demon of legendary power, who died over 50 years ago on the night Inuyasha was born, saving Inuyasha's mother Izayoi's life. Sesshomaru is at least 300 years old and a pure demon, the son of Inu no Taisho and another dog demon. Inuyasha is a hanyou--half-demon, half-human, as Izayoi was a human. Though it is never explicit just who caused the rift, Inu no Taisho and Sesshomaru's mother divorced because Inu no Taisho fell in love with Izayoi. Izayoi became the "other woman" to Sesshomaru. This was the beginning of a bitter feud between the two half-brothers, only cemented for Sesshomaru when Inu no Taisho died saving Izayoi and the newborn Inuyasha from a berserk former lover of Izayoi's. His hatred for Inuyasha, an emblem of the end of his primacy as his father's heir, only built when he discovered that Inu no Taisho had bestowed the heirloom his oldest son had always coveted--his most powerful offensive sword, Tessaiga--to Inuyasha, not Sesshomaru. What Sesshomaru did not yet realize was their father had given him his other, equally powerful, sword, Tenseiga, the Sword of Healing, so that he might learn a very valuable lesson, and grow in an amazing way. And grow Sesshomaru did....

About half of the instances that Sesshomaru protects Inuyasha, when Sesshomaru becomes an adult, Inuyasha never knows. Sesshomaru catches wind of a new foe Inuyasha has made, approaches that foe, and, under the pretext that he "has first rights to destroying Inuyasha," mandates that the threat to Inuyasha leave his little brother alone (or suffer his own wrath). He makes this mandate to Kikyo, a slew of Naraku's reincarnations and minions, old enemies of Inuyasha's mother, and even a woman who becomes infatuated with him and tries to steal Tessaiga from Inuyasha for him. But then, after he claims that he is the one who has the right to kill his little brother, he puts off that killing--indefinitely.

It becomes clear, as the manga progresses, that Sesshomaru has been protecting his little brother all along in respect and reverence of their father's memory. WHen he acquires a defensive sword of his own origin, Bakusaiga, he renounces his desire to claim Tessaiga and offers Inuyasha the defensive powers that Tenseiga has accrued, declaring his brother worthy of honor and respect as an heir to their father. At the same time, he unlocks the true force of Tenseiga, acquiring the capacity to feel compassion (via various trials related to his human ward Rin, and twice saving her from the dead), and Totosai declares that Sesshomaru has truly surpassed their father as a daiyoukai (great demon) warrior. For Sesshomaru, who was never given the crucial opportunity to battle and defeat their father (I know, it's weird, but feudal Japan was a different culture than ours, lol) and assume his mantle of manhood before Inu no Taisho's death (which Sesshomaru once blamed on Inuyasha and his mother), this is a KEY rite of passage and a point of healing. In a sense he has finally been allowed to grow up and out of their dad's shadow, himself.

SO here is where we come to the image: Their father used to constantly harp at Sesshomaru that to be a truly strong warrior, he had to have "someone to protect." Sesshomaru castigated this as "ridiculous" and "unnecessary" as an emotionally walled off teenager. However, by the point of the third film and the later manga chapters, Sesshomaru has been spending a good deal of time taking care of a little human girl named Rin (whole other story there lol), and he begins to realize their father was correct.

Therefore, the other half of the time that Sesshomaru is protecting Inuyasha, he is forced to openly admit he is honoring their father's mantra "protect someone." He always pretends that Inuyasha is this incredible nuisance, lol, and almost invariably bellows "YOU'RE IN THE WAY, IDIOT," knocking his little brother out of the path of fire of an enemy. This time, he didn't get there in time to protect Inuyasha. But he is still going to come to the rescue of the nuisance whom he has sworn to protect.

I think this would look nice as a cg'd piece but then thats not really your style, so perhaps coloured and shaded as though it were night time? I thin this looks like a night time/dark screen scene
