lol! what ar eyou using 3ds or maya? it might be called turbosmooth or SDS subdive or something.. what it does is it ups your poly count while at the same time smoothing the mesh out.

Haha, yeah. its "smooth" in maya. I have the low res version and what i did for the high res version was i did "add Divisions" and then "smooth" afterwords so it would keep the detail and general shape without getting too rounded. I then had to convert the high res into a normal map for it. the low res is only 9,000 verts while the high res was 144,000 verts.
the one that i rendered here is a low res with a normal map of the high res on it.
(im in video game production by the way, which is why im doing it like this.)

But the actual high res, not the normal map. has smoother edges.
