If there are any problems with the text, please note that the background of this comic is actually transparent. I recommend zooming in full size, and possibly switching your DA background theme temporarily. If you still have difficulty reading it, I can provide a plain-text transcript if asked. Since it is intended for a predominantely Western audience, the comic reads from left to right, top to bottom.

This tutorial presumes that you already know the basics of how to use the weight painting function of PMX editor. It is meant to show how to use a feature that you may not be aware of. I have not personally played around with this feature very much. Yet. But I suspect it may be the key to rigging better shoulders. (If it does not turn out to be the key, then I need to know what dark magic rituals were used by model makers like Sour or TDA to get such beautiful shoulder rigging!)

If you wonder what's up with the display colors, it's because I had the PMX View window's "Mode" set to "weight bone." It's my personal preference for painting weights because it color-codes each vertex and the mesh according to the bone that it's rigged to follow. Also not shown is how I then redid the conversion from upper body 2 weights to the vertebra spine weights because that's a completely different and tedious process...

Fun fact: Kyoji has the least muscle definition of my models for the Kasshu Brothers.
