Description

"Beware the Slenderdactyl"

Quetzalcoatlus northropi, Tyrannosaurus rex, Paleosaniwa canadensis. An acrylic painting of a Tyrannosaurus chick hiding from the Slenderdactyl, an old and grounded Quetzalcoatlus who makes his home in this dark forest. An adult Paleosaniwa makes a break for it as the giant pterosaur spots it.

Due to old damage to his wings, the Slenderdactyl spends his time as a terrestrial, stalking predator. He took up residence in my fictional Maastrichtian forest of Taur-e-Ndaedelos , namely to avoid the large Tyrannosaurs of the plains. He mainly lives off of small animals and the juvenile dinosaurs who naively wander into his domain and get hopelessly lost.

I wanted to do another spooky forest painting involving the Slenderdactyl for a while and decided to go with an eerie, ectoplasm green for the overall mood of the painting. The primary purpose of adding the Paleosaniwa was to give a scale reference for the Slenderdactyl. There’s a frog as well in the painting, right next to the Slenderdactyl’s raised hand, also for scale.

Completed on the 29th of January 2019.

Done using acrylics, color pencils and Photoshop CC.

Meh, I thought it'd go like this;

"Slender-man, Slender-man,
does whatever a Slender-man can.
Grows some tentacles, has no face,
catches kids, just like flies.
Don't look, there stands a Slender-Man."

Man, that would be a terrifyin' encounter, especially if you're at least a foot tall! In my opinion, he'd be even scarier if he had, I don't know... and long quill-coated tongue like his incarnation in Primitive War. I mean, a ground azhdarchid with a pickax beak and a lashin' prickly tongue stalkin' around in the woods. If that doesn't give ya nightmares, I dunno what will! But that's just me. Nice work, just the same!

Fantastic! First I love azhdarchids, as they are my favorite pterosaurs and you did this one great. The design and color scheming give it this eerie vibe like said "Slendermen". And the background and rest of the diorama truly give the eerie and scary feel to the Azhdarchid.
