Description

Map made on RPG Maker for my fangame Pokemon Sacred Phoenix.
Here is the Route 1 - Eagle Path: the fourth map that the player will discover by plunging into the realm of Keltios. This valley is the link between the hometown Sylvan Town and Tintignac.

Eagle Path lore:

Nestled in a valley at the western foot of Everlasting Mounts on Alienor Shire, it is here that the wood from Sylvan Town passes through for the Tintignac forges. In the heights nest many birds of prey, hence the name of this road.
The height difference is present between the two towns, making the Celebian river is still impetuous. With the drop in altitude to the west, the conifers begin to give way to birch trees.
Cultivated land is also more present in relation to forests.

Like all major axes of Keltios, the road is cleared so that all travelers can cross sheltered from wild Pokemons. (Yes, you don't have to be a trainer to travel.)

Borders:

North: Kalos border / Everlasting Mounts (Impassable)

Northeast: Lake of Time

East: Sylvan Town

Southeast: Eagle Pass

South: Talonflames Farm

Southwest: Route 3 - Berries fields

West: Tintignac

Northwest: Gorternel Trays (Impassable)

Experiencing tile-making and advanced mapping:

It is 35x99 map (1x3 chunks with the three tiles borders). Initially, it had to do only 1x2 chunks, but the maplink with Tintignac required that I do an additional chunk to the north, right in the middle of the mountain range that marks the border with Kalos.
Speaking of the maplink, it glitched on the corners, which means that I have to make a innacessible square of 10×7 tiles at each map corner. I will therefore take care to put natural obstacles or enclosures not accessible to the player.

As tradition dictates, I have not escaped the creation of custom tiles for this map. Here, these are the wheat tiles, the difference in level at the edge of the rivers (for single and double cliffs), the adaptation of the birch tiles and the nest.

Looks way too complicated and cramped for a "Route 1."

The road crosses from east to west, along the south bank of the river.
The extensions to the north and to the south are exploration.

Still; If you compare to any other Route 1 (or whatever first route that lets you catch Pokemon), you'll notice they usually have wide open spaces and large patches of (usually unavoidable) grass to let the player get a feel for the overworld controls, and encourage them to battle wild Pokemon.

Wish I could do something like this on RPGmaker... this is something I only see in my mind but can't translate into the maker. xD Cause I'm bad. But this is nice.

Reminds me of the Northern Mountains in The Legacy of Goku II.
