Yet again, his fault ^^Ah isn't it a wonderful thing that Akamatsu was forced into making a harem comedy but then rebelled and made a shonen, Including all those cool, cute, beautiful and badass ladies ?? Lots of epic fighting, lots of fanservice, the yuri, the plot, the humour. Ah Akamatsu-sama rules.

Yeah the silly harem was kinda fun but it was the shonen shift that Really got me into this series. I love cute girls, I love badass girls, I love smart, outmanoeuvring-the-enemy fights and this thing has it all!

Yeah, I mean I never watched Love Hina (Actually started watching that because why not) and I see the appeal, but I was concerned that would just be it, but that shift really blew my eyes as a young 10-Year Old in 2006 starting into anime (And yes, this was my first series) and just waiting for those chapters to come out was really thrilling.
I was really disappointed with its animation however, as the company seemed to still try to shoot for the harem themed show they wanted....the OVAs were pretty much the recovery (White Wing/A New World) for us fans of both genres. And granted the FINAL Movie was.....a "nice" spin-off of the ending I really felt cheated as the Negi vs Fate fight was just.....not animated entirely.....
This series definitely shone as Akamatsu's Gold Moment in his career but it seems to be that his new series may just top it off with his talents sharper than ever of course. Basically the same formula but I feel like this could the the Pokemon Gold & Silver of this series....(Now that's how you do a sequel! ~ Honest Trailer Voice)

Wow, starting off your anime adventure with Negima must have been a blast. Most people start it with some crap like Sword Art Online XD Oh yeah it was always exciting when new chapters were about to come out. When I started off the newest chapters were at around the Negi vs Rakan fight so things REALLY picked up from there.
Oh yeah the TV anime was just boring ( and what was up with those hair O_o) the OVAs were Really nice but I will never forgive them that for the movie they made up some silly excuse plot instead of animating the fight between Negi and Rakan and Negi Fate. That was some awesome stuff and they just... they just WASTED IT!
Mhm while I kinda enjoy UQ Holder it just... doesn't feel the same for me. What really sold me on Negima was a large cast of badass girls and a really unusual and unique protagonist. UQ Holder is closer to typical shonen blueprint, idiot hero with Hax power and a cast of dudes with very few really fun female characters. Honestly though I was grinning with delight when Negi and his buddies appeared, to see Rakan, Nodoka and Yue taking names and kicking ass was so fun, even if they were fighting for the evil side. All in all I just miss the old gang T_T

Oh it totally was! I enjoyed SAO for what it's worth now as an avid reader of the novels instead of its animation because now instead of stuff he's written over a decade ago there's finally some new content from a now "professional" writer instead of his amateur writing we all experienced in the beginning. Oh man, Negi vs Rakan was definitely a great time to be a Negima fan!
It was literally garbage, I mean I enjoyed it for what it was worth but man....it really hurt to not see much more of the source material and the pitiful part was that the author was also involved in the Movie's production so it was rather interesting to see this honestly...
I agree with you there, in the beginning it had some nice nostalgia of the good old series though I was pretty disappointed with its sudden time jump to the happy ending but soon after that appearance with Negi the plot suddenly throws your feelings about the last series down to the chopping block as where I once criticized the sudden ending to be tacky only to be left with a scar in my heart wishing for that to still exist as in the current storyline now Chisame, Negi's First Love is dead alongside other members of Class 2-A during their battle against The Mage of Beginning and all of this because of Asuna's involvement in that development since she became the connection between both worlds.
That right there for me really brought my old memories of the original series and I'm excited to see how Akamatsu-sensei will develop this new reality we have to face!

Mhm I'd say it was as early as chapter 20-something but it really hit around chapter 30 and from then on it was closer to a shonen than a harem.

Yeah I know, he wanted a shonen, they wanted a harem, so he gave them a harem... and then ran for the shonen territory with all the harem craziness creating one of the most awesome series' ever XD Executive Meddling that actually Benefited the series which was meddled with.
