Description First Snow - 11

Here you can see an old stable up on the plateau. It's a shelter for sheep. At the moment I visited it, they were up in the hills though.

Thanks, Rob. Your "light" nit-picking on me was and still is always on my mind and I enjoy every minute of the moments before and after night.

Doesn't look as though there are aby roads going to that particular point was it a backpacking trip?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndreasResch In reply to JamesHackland [2008-12-03 08:04:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah ... it took me 4 hours to get up there with my backpack. Unlike in America here in the Alps we often have to hike for hours to get to the better spots.

So you must have stayed overnight then right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndreasResch In reply to JamesHackland [2008-12-03 14:40:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah ... I was sleeping in a cabin without heat which was OK as my sleeping bag was warm enough for the temperatures.

JamesHackland In reply to AndreasResch [2008-12-03 15:49:29 +0000 UTC]

Sweet it's always nice not having to carry a tent with you, saves a lot of weight.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndreasResch In reply to JamesHackland [2008-12-03 16:20:24 +0000 UTC]

Hehe ... I was actually carrying my tent as I wasn't aware of the situation at the cabin. But it was just an extra 1,3kg - not too bad.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesHackland In reply to AndreasResch [2008-12-04 04:19:48 +0000 UTC]

That's a decent tent you've got there then and that is the last thing you want to leave at home when you need it. I used to carry an 11 pound 2 person tent until I got a nice 2.5lb single it made a difference in overall pack weight except that the extra weight of the digital camera gear compensated for that loss....lol

AndreasResch In reply to JamesHackland [2008-12-04 08:25:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah ... I now try to reduce everything as much as possible. Too bad all the light things cost much more money, but in the end it's worth the extra costs.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesHackland In reply to AndreasResch [2008-12-04 23:04:28 +0000 UTC]

For the most part but I bought an MSR Zoid tent for about $100 Canadian. It isn't top of the line but it is very light and well worth the money.
