Description Plitvice - Upper Falls

This one was taken at the upper lakes where I was all alone the whole day long. Nobody else was that stupid to walk through the woods in the deep snow and balance on 3ft wide railingless bridges covered by over 2ft of snow. The view that I was rewarded with was amazing.

If you want to see what others miss then you do what others don't. A little effort and the reward was well worth it and all the better for a complete lack of people.
To see and experience something like this is worth tiptoeing across a few snowy bridges.

This is amazing mate, absolutely love the pool colour complimented with the white, and blue ice. What temperature was this at?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndreasResch In reply to FlippinPhil [2010-02-17 07:17:28 +0000 UTC]

Must have been a little below zero (Celsius). Temperatures are going up again - that's why I hurried down there last weekend.

Hab einen 4x5 Crop versucht, dann fehlte mir aber die Tiefe. Hab aber andere Bilder von dieser Stelle mit weniger Wasser - kommen spΓ€ter.

You have to be careful up there but your amazing photo has paid you back.

Well done! And you are not stupid, that is what I tell myself trying to justify passing a 'dangerous' path, rock, lake...

It's not like sitting on the couch in front of a TV - that makes it special and all the images you take home, good or bad, much more valuable.

Thank the world for photogs like you :applause: ! So glad you went out of your way to get this shot. Isn't that the greatest feeling in the world.... going were others might not? I can totally relate and love it when I can convey that through my lens like you did here. Awesome work and thank you so much! Your dedication shows!

It was a struggle ... I already was on my way back but then I looked back down onto the falls and all the wonderful snow and ice and I gave it a try. Didn't make it all the way but still got some nice shot to take home.

Lovely Andreas!
P.S I see hoya, didn't you use B+W ? or was that for the specific lens?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndreasResch In reply to pestilence [2010-02-16 19:59:02 +0000 UTC]

I have a polarizer on each lens. Some Hoyas and one B&W. On the Zeiss I have the Hoya HD Polarizer.

pestilence In reply to AndreasResch [2010-02-16 20:01:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh! So it would be a nice time to ask if you see any differences
I have B+W now, but I used to own also a Hoya, found the Hoya difficult to clean (it would usually leave haze on it)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndreasResch In reply to pestilence [2010-02-16 20:02:03 +0000 UTC]

I can't tell the difference. The new HD series from Hoya is amazing - no scratches and cleaning is no issue.

pestilence In reply to AndreasResch [2010-02-16 20:07:14 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the info Andreas Just wanted to know, because B+W is not always available (although I believe I won't be needing any new filters soon, since my lens list -and my budget- has reached a limit).
