Description

Hello guys! Andre is back, and this time with something different. I have been seeing tier lists and costume origins for a while, so I have decided to combine the two with one game I have been playing recently, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, one of my all-time favorite racing games! So, I have decided to rank all of the costumes of each character, from the ones I think are the best, to the ones I think are the worst! Keep in mind these are all my own opinions only and I’ll also put up if the costume has a specific origin or not, based on the costume I’m discussing, and I’ll separate them into separate mini tiers, based on my overall thoughts on each costume, like if its Excellent, Great, or Solid as an example (A, A-, A+). Let’s move on to the next character on my list, the brilliant sister of Crash, Coco Bandicoot herself

Coco Bandicoot
We’ll start with Coco Bandicoot herself first! As you would expect, I like this girl a decent amount, first appearing in crash 2 and becoming pretty much a stable character across many of the crash titles. While I don’t know her that well, I still consider her an excellent character just like the previous 2 I noted before, Crash & Cortex. I’m still giving her an A ranking once again since I find her too pretty to not receive this ranking.

Blue Coco
The first color palette that Coco has is called Blue Coco. This one is completely original where it just puts Coco in some yellowish green fur, with blue hair as the choice of color. I think it’s okay… the only main problem I have is that the fur color really does not fit the choice of hair color they used… I think it clashes too much with the colors they chosen here. If the fur color was more pink, or the hair was more of a, say red color instead & named Red Coco, then I would have liked this costume a bit more, but where it is right now, I’ll have to give this one a B- ranking for now since it does not match my likings too much.

Lynx Coco
The next color palette is Lynx Cortex. This one actually has an origin, being based of Lynx cats, which are cats that live in the United States, northern Mexico, Canada, and Alaska. To me I think this is an amazing costume, while it does very settle changes to Coco like making her fur a tanner shade of orange, and making her hair much dark brown, I think it matches the Eurasian Lynx’s colors perfectly, which makes me like this costume even more! So for that reason, I’m giving this costume an S ranking because of that!

Purple Coco
The last color palette to talk about is Purple Coco. This is another original skin to Coco where she has silver fur, with purple hair as the choice of color. To me, this is kinda like the Beenox Aviator Crash I talked about before, except it’s a bit more "meh", than being horrible. Look, don’t get me wrong, the colors do look good, but once again silver is not fur color I would choose for either Crash or Coco, and personally while I do think Coco’s silver fur is better than Crash’s silver fur, that doesn’t negate the fact that silver doesn’t work that well with other colors besides white or black in my opinion. If the fur color was more of a shade of green with this purple hair I probably would have been okay with it, but honestly I’m giving this costume a C+ ranking for now, it just needs to have some slight improvements to be actually good.

Princess Coco
The first legendary skin is the Princess Coco. This puts Coco in a princess outfit, and is once again based on a skin she has in Tag Team Racing. I think this is a good costume overall, my only main complaint is her victory animation where she fakes us out into thinking she is poisoned by the wumpa fruit, but isn’t, not sure why but it just seems a bit bland for animation too me. But overall I think the costume itself is not bad, it’s only just that small victory animation that needs work, other than that it gets a B+ ranking for being a good costume in my book!

Beach Coco
The next legendary skin is the Beach Coco. This puts Coco in a beach attire with a beach hat, and a swimsuit, which kinda gives me vibes of Vacation Peach from Mario Kart Tour. As for my overall thoughts on the costume I think it’s solid! Overall the victory animation has a very pleasing sound of steel drums in the mix and that makes this costume all the more special because of that, so I personally dig this costume and give it an A+ ranking overall!

Evil Coco
This next legendary skin is called Evil Coco. This costume gives her the appearance of a monstrous mutant, from the game Crash Over the Mutant, where she was like this due to being mind controlled. Now I don’t have any issues with the costume itself I think it’s okay, but my biggest problem with it is the victory animation, where you have scary growls and effects, combined with a cute giggle… which not gonna lie is not a good combination that fits together in this costume, making this one, one of the more horrible ones that I have witnessed. It isn’t as bad as the last two I mentioned before, but I have to sadly give this one a D ranking due to the inconsistency this costume has.

Dark Coco
The next legendary skin is called Dark Coco. This gives Coco a goth appearance with purple hair and a more punk like outfit, which is an interesting reference to evil coco that was supposed to appear in Crash Twinsanity, but was cut from the final game. Now I’m going to be honest, this might be the most perfect, and the best costume in the whole game in my opinion, and I’m serious when I say this. I don’t know what the deal is, but this costume just knocks everything out of the park of what a goth should act like, I mean she even looks at the player unamused in her victory animation, you can’t tell me that this is not the best victory pose you could even see anyone do. Honestly, this HAS to receive an S++ for that clean animation. I’m just going to say it right now, this is the best costume in the whole game, and I’m going to get this one soon!

Elf Coco
The next legendary skin is called Elf Coco. This is a Christmas themed outfit, putting her into a cupcake like outfit, reminiscent of elves, which I think is pretty cute. I think this is a fantastic costume overall, I especially like the cute animation where she even eats the cupcake without a second thought, kinda makes me jealous slightly, but I can’t be that mad at her in all honesty. So because of that reason, I’m giving this costume an A+ ranking because of that, and surpasses the Beach costume by a lot!

Alice Coco
The next legendary skin is called Alice Coco. This one is inspired by Alice and Wonderland due to the dress itself, as well as the hair. I think this is overall an incredible costume, and definitely one of the best ones Coco has in store, since the victory animation even has her eating a mushroom and shrinking, before magically changing back to normal, which was very smart and clever by the developers. I’m giving this one an S+ ranking because of that! While it does not surpass Dark Coco, this one does a good job at trying something different, which I like!

Rustland Coco
The last legendary skin to talk about is Rustland Coco, which puts her in some sort of rocking clothing, with goggles and crazy blue hair! As far as I am concerned, this is a costume made sully on the Rustland Megamix course, which is a good enough reference to put for me! I know the last two costumes have been pretty fantastic, but I think this costume is WAAAAY more badass than it needs to be, because the victory animation of her putting the phone down and even kicking it, striking a fierce and angry pose to the player is a powerful feeling that this costume presents, and I am just really impressed that a costume as cool as this could be so incredible to see! I had to give this one an S+ ranking because while it does not surpass Dark Coco, it surpasses Alice Coco by a long shot because of how incredible the costume itself is!

Electron Coco
Now let’s talk about one of the costumes that’s exclusive to the oxide edition of the game, or if you pre-order the game early, that being Electron Coco. This one is based off the track Electron Avenue, which is a good enough reference for this costume. This one overall is a great one! While it does surpass Cortex’s version of the costume, it does not surpass Crash’s since I think this costume fits Crash slightly better, but even so Coco doing some exercises and such in a cyan red-looking robot suit is quite awesome I must say, and that alone is enough to give this costume an A- ranking for that reason!

Star Coco
Now let’s talk about one of the costumes that’s ANOTHER exclusive to the oxide edition of the game, that being Star Coco. This one is completely original to Coco, but I assume this one was made to match the space suit that Crash has, so it’s a good choice in my book. This one is quite the incredible costume to me, and it all has to do with the victory animation, where she tries to shrink herself, but it fails and causes her body to shrink, but her head still is normal size, and then she switches back to her normal self like nothing happened, which is kinda hilarious if you ask me. That alone is enough to give this an incredible costume an S+ ranking! While it does not surpass Dark Coco or Rustland Coco, it does surpass Alice Coco & Lynx Coco for being so fleshed out and unique comparing to the others I mentioned thus far.

Retro Coco
The last and final costume to talk about for Coco is her Retro appearance, a costume that is only available in the PlayStation versions of the game, which I sadly don’t have access to due to me having the Nintendo Switch version of the game. This one has Coco in her PlayStation appearance from the early era of crash games, which makes sense since Naughty Dog were the original creators behind Crash. This costume once again goes threw the same rules as Retro Crash & Retro Cortex, so once again like last time, she to me is average for a retro look, and gets a B ranking for those reasons to keep things short and sweet.
