Description This is something I started last year, actually, but the motivation to work more on it started to petter out. I only got back into it just now. The opening camera move is something I've been imagining would be perfect for this kind of story way back in 2000, so I'm glad I realized it in some form.

More will be added later, if I get around to it.

EDIT (5/6/08)- And because so many of you are asking, here's my VA wishlist (which will ALSO be edited further in the future):

Norm
Jim Sturgess, David Ogden Stiers
Cory
Zach Braff, Vic Mignogna, Will Friedle, Carter Jackson
Jerome
Tom Cavanagh, Will Arnett, Diedrich Bader, Will Friedle
Lark
Kate Higgins, Zooey Deschanel, Tara Strong, Laura Bailey

This must have taken forever to do. How did you do the expressions of the characters. Watch yourself do the actions and exaggerate them?

I don't really know how I do the expressions of the characters. I suppose it's from years of being familiar with shows.

I am speechless, this is stunning work! I've been teaching myself to use flash animation, the most I got out of it before my Computer was attacked by a virus was a brittle and skippy Orca Pod test. May I ask what programs were used to smooth this out? Was it drawn by hand before being digitally remastered? I've been searching for a school within the US that gives a full course of traditional hand animation, most only teach you half the work before they set you on a digital/CGI animation course, which is a disappointment nowadays.

You just answered your own question before even asking it. I used Flash CS2. Then switched to CS3. Nothing drawn by hand beforehand. I also use a Wacom Intuos 3.

Holy smokes when did you find time to do this and how long did it take you to animate it?? I was stuck doing layout never realized they made you animate some scenes in KM. No wonder they look smooth. Great job as always.

These were done on and off on my free time in the past years, so I can't say how long these took. I do remember that these were very rough sketches and did not take long at all.

Gorgeous work. Without sound or context, you're gettingsuch an incredibly strong sence of character. I'm loving how hard you're pushing your drawing to great effect - everythings reads exceptionally well.

Wow. Totally been missing this great stuff. I need to get back into this comic, but I admit I miss the old everything-on-one-page format. But whatever. This is great animation and I can't wait to see a finished version if there's ever going to be one.

And I totally imagine David Ogden Stiers for Norm too. Zach Braff is a bit of a surprise, but I guess that sorta fits. I wish I knew who any of the other people are (besides Will Arnett, who I only know from his roles as far less high-strung characters than Jerome)

Will Friedle is another of my choices for Cory. Friedle played Eric on Boy Meets World (which coincidentally featured another Cory, played by Ben Savage), and went on to do voicework for Kim Possible (as Ron), and Batman Beyond (as the title role, Terry McGinnis). He's so far the actor I envision would fit the best as Cory.

Thanks for the comments!

i dont know any of these actors but im about to youtube them xD

-i REALLY think you should think about making norm&cory a reality. nickolodean is starting to turn into non-cartoon shows so it would probably do VERY good on cartoon network. what you have would also make a VERY VERY (and i do mean very) disney/pixar movie or something like that. you have the makings of an animator and could probably get good money off this <3

ps:this long comment was very hard to type on a nintendo wii so now my thumb hurtz D: later!

Nick into non-cartoon shows? I think it's the opposite! CN has been interested in live-action elements for the past years (the Flicks block shows weekly movies with a lot of them being live-action, and don't forget the Ben 10 movie, and Out of Jimmy's Head)! Nick however seems to be stalling in terms of releasing new cartoons, with the exception of (*ahem*) OUR'S. (Speed Racer, Three Delivery) But yes, CN would work too.

Disney would also be a good fit for it (I can easily see it there), but it would be a hark back to their more irreverent, 90's, Disney Afternoon block, which they appeared to have steered away from. Also, they are notorious for owning a show and changing everything.

wow, i had no idea XD yea any three of them would be nice. I could also see it being a movie :3 i just looked at the actors on youtube and you made good choices. especially for cory.

when i got to your choices on lark i was baffled, i didnt know Lark was supposed to sound that young XD she seemed like a bird in her mid-thirties in the comic X3

Flytermo: No offence Lark o.o ...

andrewk In reply to flytermo [2008-08-29 15:56:16 +0000 UTC]

Some of the actresses I suggested could very well be in their thirties, I really have no idea.

Actually, BOTH Nick and CN are accepting LOTS of cartoons right now, but I'm just generalizing when I say CN is ALSO interested in live-action, and Nick is very selective. Secret Saturdays, Chowder, Total Drama Island, Flapjack, George of the Jungle and Chop Socky Chucks have all been accepted by CN in the past year!

Ha ha ha ha! That chipmunk got planted! That totally cracked me up!

I've also gotta say, I'm impressed by the sheer smoothness of some of the other scenes. Very professional work.

Now I suddenly want to start trying to think up theme music for this... or at least something that'll get my fingerprints on this thing. It's definitely got potential!

I love you. Make Nickeloden turn your comic into a cartoon.

And Voice actors! Who would you pick for the characters?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

andrewk In reply to Kourumi [2008-05-06 12:14:56 +0000 UTC]

I'd have to stew on this, but I have thought about a wish list a lot. They'd have to do as little strain on their voices as possible in order to get the best range, so I would want their voices to match the characters as much first off.

Norm is British, so the actor voicing him should also be as well.

I'm thinking Zach Braff or Vic Mignogna as Cory.
