This is a model of the PRR T1 Steam Locomotive, made by one Trilby Harlow of Facepunch for a recent TF2 Empourium Vehicle Map Pack Competition, challenging the site's modders to make rather cool-looking vehicles useful in mapping and scene-making. Only recently released to the public via SFM's workshop, but clever trickery by me involving installing SFM and swiping the workshop files I downloaded netted me the model in a usable state in GMod.

This is a rather nifty looking steam engine that reminds me greatly of my youth full of Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as some old nifty Lionel train sets/books/audio tapes I used to listen to a lot (Anyone else remember these? www.youtube.com/results?search… . As such, when I saw somebody working on this kind of model, I followed its development closely, eagerly awaiting the day it was released. And now it has come, and I have bared hours of SFM dowloading time to make sure I can use it within my comfort zone. How lame is that?

I did my best with this picture. Good lighting and angling, some meager scenebuilding techniques, a particle effect and a use of lamps to highlight the star of the picture. You might note the rather wintery-looking setting based on the sky and glimpses of non-urban ground. That's because this started as a picture intended to express my End of the Line hype ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m-OgG… , meant to have a series of TF2 characters in loadouts based on my friends' and my own riding upon the T1 going at a high speed of HYPE, but as I worked on the Scenebuild (only meant to be that railing on the side of the cliff), I realized there would be more value in creating a simple picture to show off this model I've been waiting on for ages. So there ya go.

Still want to do an EOTL HYPE picture eventually. No promises though.

Image has been updated with a more fitting set of passenger carriages, adjustments to placements of enviroment, and tweaking of smoke trail. Attempts to use the creator's own self-made particles for this train have failed.

The T1 is truly a beauty. Reminds me so much of when I was growing up watching Shining Time Station.

The angling and the light gives it a very dramatic feel. Have a favorite, a follow, and a share to a pair of train groups.

also, EOTL was worth the wait, imo.

Epic! This design reminds me of an artist, Bradley W. Schenk, who dabbles in both a Raygun Gothic-media, "Retropolis", and Celtic art as well. I just ordered one of his books on Amazon. He also designed a great, but underrated PC Game, The Labyrinth of Time.

This is like my 2nd favorite steam locomotive next to the 4884 Union Pacific Big Boy, both of these trains looks just awesome. =3

Yes, that's how I got the passenger carriages.

I don't regret the SFM workaround I made, though. That still netted me the high-poly version of the train that looks pretty here.

That is some damned fine looking engineering. Do you have a download link for her?

Not for GMod. Like I had said, I had to get it through SFM's workshop and taking the model from the SFM files. If you were to install Source Filmmaker, subscribe to the model's SFM entry: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles…  And then go into the SFM files, you can take the train's model files from SFM and use them in whatever game you want.

I'd consider uploading the files myself, but that might tread on the model maker's toes in a bad way.
