As I have referred to earlier, I am lucky to have a LEGO Shaquille O'Neal minifigure, along with several of the other parts of the LEGO Sports NBA line. Considering his memorable cameo in The LEGO Movie, its only fitting I got my Shaq minifig out and freshened up, and perhaps build him something a little fitting for the set theme from whence he came from.

I could've rebuilt one of my basketball sets, but that's hardly that interesting, particularly since I never got one of the full court sets that I got two from during the LEGO Sports soccer/football years. But considering the idea of LEGO Movie-inspired sets where relatively normal things are rebuilt into Micro-Manager-busting flying crafts, I felt an interesting proposition was at hand.

So by busting out the base from a City Fire Hovercraft, I got out my old basketball hoop parts, went for the red and tan bricks, and got to work. And after a few hours of construction, this is what I came up with: A flying hovercraft that's bascially a basketball court gone mobile, with two hoop-based high-propulsion engines, basket-balled powered lasers, and basketball catapults, as it seems LEGO Shaq and friends are fond of those. Plus there's an untouched basketball hoop and a half court in case the crew gets bored. Or if Shaq wants to try the Chaos Dunk, for better or worse.

I love the look and craziness of the thing, and it seems my family gets a hoot out of it too. Reminds me I should try ReBrick soon, sounds like a nice place to post MOCs.
