Kneeling Girl ¨C Life Size Bronze
Sometimes I get the opportunity to sculpt purely for pleasure and this figurative sculpture is one of those opportunities. As luck would have it, I had a particularly beautiful model to pose for this figurative statue.
Although I love classical sculpture and the skill and understanding that it takes to sculpt it well, I do like on occasion to add a little bit of fantasy or surrealism. So with this sculpture I sculpted her tattoo coming to life and threatening to bite her as she looks on with a sense of puzzlement and surprise - as might be expected under the circumstances.
The original clay sculpture was cast in resin and then lovingly rubbed back to create the smooth and floorless surface that became the perfect canvas for some beautiful patination work.
