Description I'm not even going to talk about how long this piece took. Sometimes I get obsessive and things happen. Yeah.

Edit: Added a better background.

She's beautiful!! You can really tell that a lot of time and effort was put into this piece. I love the hair! The colours that you used are well placed, and blend well together. I like the shading and smaller details, I feel like it really brigs the piece together.
If I had to say something though, I'd suggest to make the arms alittle longer, and maybe bring the nose out a little farther from the face.
Of course that's just my opinion, feel free to ignore the suggestions.
This is a really beautiful piece, you did an excellent job! Great work!

Thanks so much!

I did some looking into the mirror last night on the advice of another commenter and I think I just need to make the upper arm in front longer and the forearm pointing back more. Still not entirely sure what to do about the face; she's supposed to be a Seal Point Siamese, but that's hard to convey with the particular lighting I used.

Ah, how sensual and beautiful! You did a great job with the details, colors, shading, and anatomy, and I love the soft glow effects, too! Great job here!

I like the hair, the background, the belly, the ears, and the shading a TON.  Seriously, the shading is exemplary--all those firelight flickers--and makes the piece so atmospheric and exciting.  My jealousy is off the charts.  It's a beautiful piece and really shows the time invested in it.

That said, there's still constructive criticism to be had.  The shadows on the face are too extreme compared the body (also, I really cannot tell what cast them in the first place), the tail fades into the background without a little more contrast to make it pop, it just looks like you kinda got bored with your bead bra, and you kinda need to brush up on your arm anatomy with the one in the foreground.

If the arm is parallel with the dancer's head, the elbow should be much higher.  If it's bent back, and that's why it's so short, then it can only be bent back at a diagonal forward angle--making it impossible to set the forearm back at the angle its in without being broken, because it is rotated really far.  That hand also appears to be a bit large for the forearm to be receding at the angle it is in the picture.  For such complicated poses, taking mirror selfies with your phone can actually be really helpful, even if you will feel entirely like an idiot doing that.

Don't let my criticism get you down, though--it really is a glorious piece of art.

Why thank you.

The face/arms/tail are supposed to be darker than the rest of the "fur" because she's supposed to be a Seal Point Siamese. That's a bit hard to convey with the particular type of lighting I used.

Yeah, the arm is supposed to be stuck out a bit and then foreshortened into the back and against her head. In the belly dance world, we call this the "headband pose." (Or at least my old troupe did. Heh.) I'll have to check what you mean by "diagonal forward angle;" to me it seemed fine, but I'm glad someone could point out that it was hard to tell that that was the effect. (I'm not great at foreshortening, obvs.

How do you feel I got bored with my beaded bra? That crap was tedious.

Thanks again!

Ahhh, okay, yeah that kind of coloring could definitely interfere with the shading.  Especially with the arms both posed back--that makes it seem like they're just out of the lamplight, not patterned.  I wonder what you could do to let the audience know the coloring was intentional...

Sorry for my confusing wording--by diagonal forward angle I mostly just mean the elbow is going to have to face forward, however slightly; this means the upper arm should be in front of the forearm in the joint, but your line placed the forearm a bit more front.  (Also, no wonder you're using such a dynamic pose with hands on experience!)

As for the beaded bra and its eau de "kill me now", partly this was because that shit LOOKED tedious, and partly because while the rest of the picture was very lovingly shaded and detailed, put into perspective and fit to the form, the bra looked a bit flat and repetitive in that special way that means you hit your limit when it came to coloring tiny stupid beady things and IF ONE MORE OF YOU GOES CROOKED I SWEAR.

Glad to help!

lol. Yeah. That's pretty much how it felt to do that bra.

I actually looked in the mirror and did that pose last night and I can see what you mean.

Thanks again!

So much work put into this. I like the amount of details and a cute kitty nose. x)
