Description Finally the fourth part of my tutorial on cosplay and convention photography.

Unfortunately I can't upload the fifth part until next week because I didn't manage to finish it in time.
It's now 1am and I have to get up early tomorrow to go to Animagic

Part I: “So you want to shoot at a con?” a.k.a. “Introduction and basics” [link]
Part II: “Auto mode is the enemy” a.k.a. “Get to know your camera” [link]
Part III: “Now show me your ass” a.k.a. “Poses and composition”
Part IV: “Dude, don't touch her there D:” a.k.a. “How to behave as a photographer”
Part V: “Convention over, work's done. Right?” a.k.a. “Post processing and uploading”

Schönes Tutorial...

Aber das mit den Bildrechten ("at leat here in germany") macht einen deutschen Fotografen ja manchmal schon zum Schwerverbrecher...

Bleibt also kein "Unvollendetes" Werk.

Hey, Thanks for the tutorial! A lot of this stuff I actually knew beforehand but there were some great new tips as well!
I'm currently trying to read all I can about cosplay photography because a friend of mine wants to have a cosplay photoshoot with me when she's finished her costume and I'm trying to get all the info so that the pictures won't look flat.

This is very informative and also fun to read. I like the way you wrote it. ^^
It's true that photographer should show the models the pictures they took for the shoot and so we can discuss over them. But when the photog don't do that, I was afraid to ask to see pictures since they might think I didn't trust them in their ability or something... But, ah well.

Wirklich gutes Tutorial.

I absolutely love reading these tutorials as they are quite helpful, especially as I'm going to do some cosplay photography soonish . Just out of curiosity, when is the 5th installment on editing being uploaded?

Andy-K In reply to Nat-The-Wise [2010-08-22 18:40:16 +0000 UTC]

I know I promised to upload it a while ago but I wasn't able fill it up with information,
because the editing on my photos is pretty minimalistic and I don't want to upload a tutorial with maybe 5 lines of text.
So I'm gathering information, but that takes a while because I have to try it out myself before trying to teach it to someone

That's fair enough then. Cannot wait to see it though .

Allerdings versteh ich darunter was anderes.
Ich versuch mich ja zu bessern >.<

Ansonsten weißt Du eh, was ich hiervon halte (i. e. viel), also genug Honig um Deinen Bart.
Bis morgen.

Ah legal trouble... All photos should have permission from the model in order for them to be uploaded to any site, but clearly that hasn't stopped anyone...It's irritating, especially if it's a bad photo that a cosplayer comes across though in most cases I've come to find that people don't mind in the least. It's flattering, though kinda stalkerish if it's clearly not a good shot, as the cosplayer looks distracted by something/someone else. I know what you mean though in terms of making sure all is ok with the model in order or upload the photo of them to any site. That's the main reason why I don't upload any photos of people I don't get information from, (hah, half the time I wait for people to find me-that way I know who the person's name is that I can attribute to the photo...though when I did ask the one time if someone had a DA or a name to attribute to the photo I just took of them, they seemed confused on why I was asking to begin with) and I don't know if my "models" know this, but if I upload something and they don't like it, I would be more than happy to take it down to appease to them.

As usual, can't wait for the continuation of this! You did an awesome job with it so far!
