Description Over the last 5 years being on DA and providing stock I've seen more than a few manipulations where resizing elements seems to be quite an issue.

The thing that confuses me is that its such an easy thing to prevent!

Thusly, I've made this incredibly quick tutorial on how to resize without getting distorted images as a result (More of a tip than a tutorial its that quick!!)

I really hope this helps newcomers to the manipping and photoshop world!
I am assuming that this will also be similar in GIMP but not having used it, somebody might need to check

I won't resize ANYTHING without my finger on that button. Nothing I hate more than things not being true to their 'size' and what not. ):

misunderstoodpoet [2010-03-29 12:45:23 +0000 UTC]

O.o when I resize, I just go in "Image" then "Image Size" it resize the image perfectly to scale.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to misunderstoodpoet [2010-03-30 13:36:03 +0000 UTC]

This way just means you don't have to go into he menus and you don't have to know in advance how big the object you are resizing needs to be

I know everyone has to start somewhere in Photoshop, but... This is like Digital Imaging 098.

But even since that's the case, I am always surprised when I see images that aren't sized properly. In print.

There are a ton of keyboard shortcuts that lots of "pro" users just "assume" everyone knows, which isn't the case lol
Hope you are feeling better soon!

yeah! I just hate off perspectives....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

inunokanojo [2010-03-26 18:57:12 +0000 UTC]

You can also hit ctrl+t to open the transform box and then tick the little chain link between the W and H boxes and then resize from the corner as you show. If you're not sure about the chain, you'll know it's the right thing if when you hover your mouse over it a little box appears that says 'maintain aspect ratio'. That way you don't have to hold shift. I used to do it that way and I would get soooooo aggravated when I had the element almost exactly sized to how I needed it and then would accidentally let go of shift and it would go all wonky like in the examples in your tut.
