This was one of my first attempts to draw Drizzt like I used to imagine him. He looks kinda short and awkward.
I don't know why, but every Drizzt artwork (or almost) I find on the internet kinda scares me. Most of the artists draw Drizzt looking like a beast or something like that. He's supposed to look slender, light and young (at least in the Darkelf Trilogy, the only one I've read so far). You also hardly see in the ilustrations the most talked detail about Drizzt - his lavender eyes.
EDIT (2010): Gee, I kinda flickered at this comment I made years ago, when I hardly knew about Drizzt and his world.
Now I've seen tons and tons of nicely painted images of Drizzt that inspire me and I must make a totally new drawing of him!

This drawing was made based on one of the few Drizzt illustrations I've seen at the time. Now I draw him very differently. And I've seen lots of nice illustrations too, since that time. So I should probabily edit the text.

I am diggin the coloring in this picture. As for the shortness, its prolly because his legs are short compared to the rest of his body, and they look a bit on the small side to me, just my preference, but i think he deserves thicker thighs. i praise you for giving him a cleaner look, and not a scarey old man look

Yah, the drawing can be when Drizzt leaves the underdark. ^^
It's one of my first Drizzt drawings, so I still needed lots more improvement. Now I came up with a new version that I like much more, I will update some one day... when I have time again. ^^

I really like your version. I, like everyone else, am very tired of the old, wrinkly version of Drizzt that the cover artists seem to favor (I have no clue why). This is much closer to the way I invisioned him and I especially like the way you did his hair. It really does look like the thick mane he is supposed to have. I think he just looks a little awkward because his knees are kind of close together but his feet are angled in. ::tilts head to look:: eh, I still think it's good. Anyway, great job! Also love Guenhwyvar!

I've read only tree books about Drizzt... The books that talk about his history in mezoberranzan (in the uderdark) and about the first days outside... I love his story... I really love Drizzt... but I don't like as Easly made the covers of these books... Your picture is really better! Keep up the good work!

Yes, that's the one I've mentioned - the 'Dark Elf Trilogy'. I'm reading now 'Icewindale Trilogy', the second book of Drizzt's aventures. I'm enjoying it lots.

There's some problem with Drizzt eye color... :\ Lavender is like light lilac, but purple is something between deep red and violet. In the books (the Dark Elf Trilogy which I've read) these two colors are related to Drizzt's eyes. I wasn't sure anymore, not even about how the lavender color was like. So I've painted the eyes purple...
Maybe the next Drizzt painting will be more accurate. ^^

erm...his eyes in this is red or dark pink....nothing even close to lilac, lavender or purple, sorry...maybe it's just my eyesight..

Hm, ya know what? I was really confused... >.< Lol! at first I thought lavender and purple were close to lilac. That was right! But I got 'sidetracked' when I wanted to be sure. So I asked a friend (who's an artist) which exact color was purple. He pointed to a color very close to the one I used in Drizzt eyes. That was when I got confused about purple. I asked several more people and they all have pointed to the same color tone. Until you came, and another friend too. You guys made me doubt again. So I've searched the dictionaries (both english and portuguese) and lilac, violet and purple are considered more or less the same tone. But, purple can be also the tone I used in Drizzt eyes (the color between violet and deep red, or scarlet). But that wouldn't match the 'lavender' part. Thus now I'm sure what color it is the right color, and I shall correct that as soon as possible. x)

Well, my language has an exact meaning on colors, so....well...I dunno, it's just plainly seems wrong to drizzt for having a color that any regular drow would have when its always stated that he has a different color, lavender!

It's not red, dark pink or violet yes. Maybe you can't see well, because I've shrinked the original image a lot to post it in DA (save it in your comp and do zoom in, maybe you'll see better). And maybe we don't have the same color school, because to me that's something close to purple. Not lavender, but purple. In the book they talk about these two colors. If lavender and purple are two completely different colors I wasn't sure which one was the right one. But I imagined purple eyes since the beginning...
Probabily I should write Bob Salvatore to ask him which color really is, lol.

Thats beautiful! This is how I would imagine him when he was younger...the only artist I can think of that can really do him justice is Todd Lockwood, but there again, all his drow males are just hot...

Of all the pictures of Drizzt I've seen, yours comes the closest to how I pictured him too. They always seem to make him look so old... Who ever heard of an old looking elf?
