Hi guys! So this was a very last minute, and kind of late-to-the-trend thing I wanted to do! I watched the Wreck It Ralph: Ralph Breaks the Internet trailer again, and while I found the scene with the princesses super funny, I could not help but hate the designs of Cinderella, Jasmine, and especially Pocahontas. They just all look super off to me, and I feel like they could have done a much better job with it. Everyone else looks super cute and spot on. But those three just bug me lol.
Anyways, here is a quick little edit, what Pocahontas should have looked like in Wreck it Ralph 2. I tried to make her as close to her movie look as possible, but still kept her eyes a little big because that's I believe that keeps it feeling CGI still.
Hope you like it! Will Disney change her look before the movie is released, probably not, but it's still fun to see what it could have been!

I'm surprised that Disney didn't try to fix this. I mean, they got A LOT of backlash from how they made Tiana look more like Halle Berry than the Tiana we know and love, even her voice actress Anika Noni Rose complained. They had to go back and re-animate Tiana's scenes with her having darker skin, a wider nose, and fuller lips. I wonder why they didn't do the same with Pocahontas. Well, at least someone fixed it. This is amazing.

Just finished that movie. Didn't pay a lot of attention to how light she was compared to her animated version. It COULD be lighting effects, but I dunno, that's a possibility though.

Welcome to the current Disney agenda, where they must make every single female protagonist look like a mixture of a Barbie doll and a Bratz doll and be super-cutsie-wutsie, while every single male protagonist must look very masculine and none-cute and with a big nose and be strong and what-not. Heck, look at Moana, where the female characters also have really realistic bodies, while the male characters look like deformed muscular toddlers.

I didn't even realize that about the male characters, but definitely agree with the female characters! That's apparently what's selling nowadays so every studio is going for that look. Just as TV is going for the more rounded, noodle-limbed comedic look. It's so difficult to take any of them seriously anymore!

Yeah, I know all too well no one seems to give a crap about allowing males to be feminine. Being a feminine gay dude, I notice. With gay acceptance, they also want to encourage taking gay guys away from stereotypes... and because they have a false dichotomy with it, they think you can only be a feminine guy if you are flamboyant and pompous. So, nowadays, gay guys are only allowed to be depicted as boring and average. The "male femininity" thing is gone as something to accept, and it's all about "transgender female" acceptance now. Not saying that's a bad thing, but it does come with the implication that the only reason a guy can look and act feminine is because "he" is a transgender female... either that or a flamboyant pompous drag queen with a female persona.
Bottomline? Feminine gay guys like me get no acceptance nor inclusion. And it drives me insane. And this shit pulled by Disney adds salt to the wound, where girls need to be girly-girly, and guys need to be bro-dudes.

Wow rude, I bet all the pictures of Pocahontas you’ve seen are her in the dark/sunset backgrounds. Lighting matters I’ve already done a comparison of the skin colour of both in the same lighting and fun fact: she’s actually darker in the new version. If you stand under lights your skin and hair get lighter it’s a fact. Also Pocahontas was totally whitewashed in the original. Also they changed snow whites skin tone too

I'm not sure how she was whitewashed in the original- but it still leaves my first point about Jasmine being darker than she was in her movie. I have dark skin and black hair. While my hair does get lighter under bright sunlight- Regular light, even bright lights won't really do that, and the effect on your skin shade is very minor. Even though it seems the light in the trailer seems more pink than anything else, I'd like to direct you here:
this is an actual screencap from the movie from the brightest naturally lit scene I could find. The second picture was downloaded straight from Pocahontas' FB page. I didn't edit any of them. The darkest shadows on her face aren't as dark as her actual skin tone. Not even a super bright light really justifies that.

I just made a simple edit to make a character look more like she does in what she was based off of. Geez

Welcome to 90s animation it’s not a good, I have more pics of her in regular lighting with lighter skin but whatever you want, the white princesses have skin change too honestly it doesn’t matter as someone who is actually half native I think it’s more racist to bitch about skin colour than enjoying the character

As someone who is Indian, I think I should point out that we all enjoy the character, but we'd respect it better if she was accurate to the movie she was based on.
(On an unrelated note, I did see your gallery and your pic of Pocahontas gave her much lighter skin than she had in the movie, but I digress)
In addition, people through a huge deal when they narrowed Tiana's nose and made her skin lighter, and as a result, Disney actually redid the scenes. With that said, I believe Animagix101 has every right to restore Pocahontas to her movie appearance without throwing a huge fuss about it.
