Description
I was a big Rugrats fan growing up, and now, having just gotten over rediscovering Doug, I'm rediscovering Rugrats. And as such, I strongly believe a spin-off focusing on the parents (particularly Stu) would've been a lot more entertaining than the... OTHER spin-off...."Stu... what are you doing?"
"Making chocolate pudding."
"It's 4 o' clock in the morning. Why on Earth are you making chocolate pudding?"
"Because I've lost control of my life."
Here, this time I'll provide a link. : D [link]

You've captured Stu wonderfully here. Also, that is one of my favorite quotes in the entire show!
Man, I was obsessed with this cartoon when I was young. And yeah, a spinoff based on the adults would have been awesome (I especially loved the grandparent characters).
And I just have to agree with you on "All Grown Up". Part of what made "Rugrats" so fun was how it showed how toddlers perceive the world around them. When they made the spinoff where they became tweens, it just became another generic kids' show. Luckily, we old codgers still have the classics. XD

I knew, 'tis an epic tale, one spread through time, and darkness. But to every great tale must be an ending, but as I've heard this one will be a sad one... As I've always known, Happy endings, gone forever more...

You make a very good point, sir. Even when I was little Stu was my favorite character. I mean, he's a bloody toy maker! How is that not interesting? I was always interested in finding out how the kids would inconvenience Stu without his knowledge or lead to the inspiration for his next toy idea. Even watching his toys blow up in his face was great entertainment!
That would've made a MUCH better spin off, even if it sucked! Man, if only we could go back in time and make them do that instead of... other spin offs that will remain nameless. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY DID! ):<

Top things to do if I go back in time:
- Stop 'All Grown Up'
- Start 'The Stu Show: starring Stu!'

I'd watch it :3
I just realized something. You know why that would work? If it was a show surrounding the adults, it could be the reverse of Rugrats. It was about the baby's influencing the adult's lives in very subtle ways that would otherwise go unnoticed. It would've been great to see the reversal of that, the adults influencing the teens lives in ways they are too young and stupid to appreciate. I emphasize on young and stupid, as that would be much more believable and interesting. Like we need another show glorifying teens.
But no, Nick's all "KIDS RULE AND GROWN UPS ARE UGLY 'N STUPID!" so they'd never be that ballsy as to challenge the adult stereotype.

That's a good point! A reverse Rugrats... I also like the idea of a spin-off that uses all the original episodes of the show it's based on, but tell it from another character's point of view. Like, the Kankers must have some pretty interesting stories beyond "LOL, WE SHOW UP OUT OF NOWHERE AND RUIN EVERYTHING, BYE." XP

Haha, yeah, that's where fan art can really shine, when you take the perspective of something left unexplored.
That's why I don't like to make fan art too far outside the realm of speculation. I still think Danny would castrate me for giving Double Dee long hair, but at least I'm being tasteful about it and not using it because its 'sexy' but more of a bedhead aspect...
Actually, he'd probably just be relieved it's not slash, haha! Poor guy must be afraid to check his public email (assuming he has one)

I've made a few attempts to draw him hatless, but I like to just leave it on him. Whether he's got something amazing under there or not, the hat suits him better than any naked-head would. XD

Spin offs are horrible... If a show ends, it's suppose to end! That's what it's meant to do. Rugrats was awesome. It was fun and creative... then, they grew up and it's just highschool drama. Boring.
XD Stu is my favorite adult character! He was so funny!

and let me say that any time is a good time to start watching Freakazoid until your brain is numb from lack of plot and constant references.

I didn't see Dilbert when it was on, but I rented the DVDs a year ago. It was an okay show, kinda boring. A good adaptation of the comics and I liked the theme song, but the comics don't really work as half hour stories. XP

LOL! Almost everybody I know likes the theme song! Really? I found it kind of entertaining. Even though I probrably didn't understand most of the jokes then XD (Like in one episode where Alice says "YOU RUINED SEX FOR ME!") But I discovered it again this year and now I do. Probrably the most funny parts are when Dogbert and Dilbert accidently do something which causes the deaths of people XD Oh well people have their opinions : D
