Today, on October 12, 2019, the world says their final goodbyes to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, as the final three episodes, "The Ending of the End" (Part 1+2) and "The Last Problem", premiered. After nine years of entertaining the world, Hasbro has decided to move on and get prepared for Generation 5 next year. For my final goodbye to this series, I'm gonna talk about my history with the show, how I went from sneering it to embracing it.

It all started back in 2013. This was around the time I was starting to get attached to Happy Tree Friends (a show perfect for anyone with a sadistic side) and was still fanboying over the greatness that was Wreck-It Ralph. One of my favorite videos about Wreck-It Ralph came from disgraced cartoon critic ToonKriticY2K. At the time, his Wreck-It Ralph video was my favorite thing from him, so before long, I decided to watch one of his MLP videos, since he was a fan of the show and because I kept seeing the show circulating around the Internet and thought it couldn't be as successful as everyone was saying it was. The video talked about the impact of MLP:FiM with how the show managed to be entertaining to both males and females and, like The Powerpuff Girls, how it broke the stereotype on how only specific genders are allowed to enjoy certain things (a boy liking MLP is just the same as a girl liking Transformers). After watching that video, I was actually curious and decided to watch an episode, and the first episode that caught my interest was "The Return of Harmony" which was the Season 2 premiere (fun fact, a statistical analysis revealed that most bronies became fans around Season 2). After watching that episode, I was fascinated with the show and started to watch more and more episodes, and from that point on, I became a brony.

True story, it was because of MLP:FiM that I decided to decided to join Twitter. Back in August of 2016, there was a fan-made game called Pony Town, where you get to create your own pony and just walk around interacting with the hundreds of ponies there. One day, I ran into ToonKriticY2K, and I told him how he inspired me to watch MLP, and decided to showcase my discovery onto Twitter. For my first few times using Twitter, I was still getting used to the format and ended up following several MLP based accounts, making most of the content on my timeline being MLP based. Over time, I started to unfollow most of these accounts and decided to follow more variety based accounts, like the cartoon channels (Nick and Cartoon Network), or Internet critics like TheMysteriousMrEnter and Crimson Mayhem.

As I watched the show, I encountered episodes that I genuinely fell in love with, episodes that were complete stinkers, episodes that I decided to skip for reasons (and maybe question if they're worth viewing), or episodes where I'm in the minority, depending on its reception. Because I want to keep things positive, I'll just be showcasing my top 10 favorite episodes of the show.

With My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic having reached its end, I can only hope for G5 to reach the success of G4, and all I want to say is... thank you Lauren Faust and everyone involved with the show (directors, writers, voice actors, etc.) for making it a truly fun experience. We may have had a few bad moments, especially involving the fan-base, but in the end, we all got something that we could wholly enjoy and bond over.
