Description
"The Assistant Prosecutor is visiting Philip Leclaire, the jewel thief, in the detention center. He is a suspect in more than a dozen burglaries to museums, galleries and private homes. She has presented the evidence against him, including the statement of the undercover officer whose involvement led to his arrest. The prosecution is offering him a term of 8 years in prison, in exchange of a full confession, the identities of his employers, and the return of all remaining stolen property. If he doesn’t accept, the case will go to trial. "As requested by

Phil: "I didn't take the Mauve Puma diamond though. Not taking credit for that one."
AP: "Then who did? The Taterbug? Carmen Sandiego? Willie Nelson high as a kite?"
Phil: "Nope. None of them. It was Hada Taca."
AP: "Tinker-Taco-Belle?"
*buzzer sound goes off*
Phil: "Aaaand...there's a guy right behind you, ready to issue a subpoena."
AP: "Crap. But we totally got you on the rest?"
Phil: "That was at the hotel."
AP: "No, not that kind of rest! The rest of these damn burglaries!"
Phil: "I don't owe Ronald nothing!"
AP: "Not Hamburglaries!!!"
*buzzer*
Phil: "Hi again, subpoena guy."
AP: "Well, there goes all that reward money for your capture!"
Phil: "Glad to know I'm helping maintain the status quo."
AP: "So, do we got a Deal, or No..."
*buzzer*
AP: "I didn't even finish the phrase!!!"
Phil: "I didn't even finish....eh, never mind."
(Meanwhile, outside the room...)
Beatrice: "Gee, Luin! He looks kinda cute, that one does!"
Luin: "Captain Obvious would be proud of you, Beatrice. But he's obviously not here. But soon, Beatrice...soon, we will have the ultimate fridge upgrade! Norwegian treatment at last!"
Beatrice: "Can we have him over for Superbowl Sunday? Derp!!!"
Luin (smacking own forehead): "I see the greater benefits have eluded you!"

Leclaire is really pondering his options here - eight years is a rather formidable sentence, but a fraction of what he might get. Still, if he can get a hot shot lawyer, he might get off on a technicality, and walk scott-free.
She obviously believes that the Prosecution has a tight case, evidenced by her confident smirk. She seems to really enjoy watching him squirm. She also seems to enjoy the fact that he is not comfortable negotiating with a pretty young woman.

Those are the thoughts and feelings I also had in mind for them, and Anir did a great job in illustrating it.
What he is pondering is not his chances in a trial - he knows the evidence is too strong for any lawyer to defend. What is really hard for him, is to give away those stolen goods the police haven't found, incriminate his bosses, and write a full confession. He has to do all that to get this deal, but it will really hurt his pride. Because just some time ago, he was the greatest jewel thief who ever lived..
