Description
Are we all excited about the groups system? Yes?!This is just a fairly in-depth tutorial explaining step-by-step how a deviant can submit their artwork to the group they belong in.
This information is based on the settings the admins of your group have set and will not always be correct.
We made this tutorial for the members of any groups out there who have converted to a group as a alpha or beta tester. This information should help a little.
You're welcome to share this tutorial with others, but please do not resubmit or claim it.
Updates:
Lastly, thanks especially to ~tanniecookie . Without her, #alwaysmotivated would not have been able to convert to a group as a beta tester.

Hello,
I have made a group of my own. But I don't think I can manage 'On Gallery, (Fouders/Co-fouders/Members..etc):' options!!
I think it said that my group has to be updated to super so I can have that application. The group's members cannot contribute to the gallery's folders as they want! I'd appreciate any help, please!
I don't think every group has been updated to super so that they'd control such options.

Perhaps it's because the group currently is currently not accepting any deviations or members for that group don't have gallery contribution privileges? It varies from group to group. If you have a look at the group rules, it should help. If you still can't find an answer, it might be a good idea to send a note to the admin and see what's going on. Hope that helps!

I have been invited to join a few groups, but every time I try to submit art to those groups, it says I don't have permission. This only happens to me with the groups I have gotten invitations for. All other groups that have accepted my request to join have worked just fine when I try submitting art. Can someone please help me understand why this is happening to me?

i cannot find this answer anywhere :
I made a group that is only for traditional artisits.. i am the admin.. but how do i make it to where people can only submit traditional art and nothing else..? every group i try to submit to only has a limited amount of choices like photography and such.. how do i give limited choices?

aque-mizuhara In reply to Emmani-Nessa [2011-06-29 21:42:31 +0000 UTC]
You can't do that. You can name a folder, like "photography", and decline everything that isn't photography, but you can't make people be able to submit only photography :<

I'm a member of some group here and I' ve been finding ways on how to contribute art to it for 2 days. As I have noticed, I can't find the "contribute art button" on the top side of the screen. And when I browsed the gallery of the group, there aren't plus signs to be found by the folders. Tell me, is there something wrong with my account, or is the problem the group itself?

aque-mizuhara In reply to Cu-bloo [2011-06-29 21:43:13 +0000 UTC]
It means probably that you either don't belong to the group (maybe you were kicked out?) or that they have closed submissions (nobody can submit then for a period of time).

I think the best way to solve this is to contact the owner or admins of the group and let them know that their folder is full. Then, they'll probably create another folder and you'll be able to submit to that one. Hope that helps.

hey i have a question. My group has folders and my members were telling me that they cant submit to that specific folder. How could i fix this so they could just click the plus by the folder? I tried everything in manage members. What do i have to specifically fix in the members area? im sorry im asking all these questions but im new to having a group

Anjellyjoy In reply to suterathecat [2010-12-18 02:27:06 +0000 UTC]
My guess is that although the general option for submitting to the gallery's enabled, the specific folder is still closed. Try going into Manage Members and under the Gallery section click the link that says Show All Folders. Then find the folder that you're having trouble with and see if the options there are also enabled.

I've got a question. I'm a co-founder of a group and my group doesn't have the plus signs next to our gallery folders and we want to open the gallery folders so we don't have to move things in and out of our "featured" folder. We've looked everywhere on how to open up folders, but can't seem to find any advice.
Can you tell me how to open our folders, or link me to a tutorial on how to open Group folders? It would really be helpful. <3

Anjellyjoy In reply to ToastWeaselofDOOM [2010-08-11 11:19:20 +0000 UTC]
What you have to do is go to Manage Members and from their you need to set permissions so that members of your group (make sure you repeat for all classes) are allowed to submit to the folders. By default they are no allowed. Make sure you open 'show all folders' and allow for every folder in your group's gallery.

I can submit things all right if I go to the group directly and submit it frome there, But if I go onto one of my artworks and press the "submit to groups" Thing on the right, I can't get any groups to come into the box. I belong to a few but they dodn't turn up. Any idea why.
π: 0 β©: 1
Anjellyjoy In reply to kabya19 [2010-08-04 11:31:55 +0000 UTC]
I think they only turn up if you're in one of the administrator classes of the group. Otherwise, your only option is to submit it from the groups themselves.
Odd really but I suppose a lot of people have join a million groups and it would be messy to show them all. Sorry for my late response.

Umm... if, say, a club has deviations that are submitted directly in the club's gallery (the deviations don't exist on any other user account), and the club is converted, do the deviations still remain on the new group account as the group account's own deviations? They don't vanish in the conversion, right?

Anjellyjoy In reply to Czarine [2010-07-06 02:27:37 +0000 UTC]
I am actually not quite sure about that... to be perfectly honest. From memory I don't think they disappear but better back them up just in case.

Hrrm... on #Bioscience the front page link links to "submit art", but on #ProjectEarth , it links to "contribute art"
I run the bioscience group, and would like to change the front page to link to "contribute art" instead, but can't figure out how.
It's possible that it's only showing "submit art" for me, and not for non-admin users, I guess. Any hints?
π: 0 β©: 1
Anjellyjoy In reply to naught101 [2010-01-22 05:10:21 +0000 UTC]
Hmm from what I know, if you're in an administrative level of a group it will say 'submit' and you will also have the option to also submit a new deviation to the group. Otherwise, it will say contribute and you can contribute one of your existing deviations.
At the moment when I go to #Bioscience is says Contribute Art so there shouldn't be much to worry about.
π: 0 β©: 1
naught101 In reply to Anjellyjoy [2010-01-22 09:23:08 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, apparently it says contribute for non-members and members, and contribute for co-founders and founders. We don't have any contributors yet, so not sure for them. It would be good to have a consistent interface though (
π: 0 β©: 1
Anjellyjoy In reply to naught101 [2010-01-22 12:10:34 +0000 UTC]
True but I think the reason is because the people in administrative classes have the extra option of submitting a new deviation as well as contributing existing ones.
And the contributors class is an adminstrative class so I'm pretty sure the button would say 'submit' as well.
