Description
Taken at the Zoo Neuwied. The maned wolves are outside quite rarely. I think I've only seen them twice...Related content

Is this a fox/wolf hybrid?! Looks very much like it! If they can even interbreed, for that matter. But the color and markings are like a fox - same with a small head, but long legs and a bulkier body, which is similar to a wolf.

Maned wolves are a species of canids found in South America. I believe in some languages they are called foxes rather than wolves, too, but they are not a hybrid. [link]

Weird, I thought this was a fox at first glance... with a very oddly shaped body! Tis' Nice photo of the wolfie all the same!

Yeah, between the big ears, the reddish colour, and the dark legs... IIRC in some or other language their name would translate to "fox on stilts" if you took it bit by bit.
Thank you!

I always feel bad for the maned wolves. They look like some crazy mix of fox and coyote compared to say, timber wolves.
