What a beautiful wedding of romance with mystique. The length of the sleeping beauty's golden hair signifying the years passing by in somnolence. The tree branches surrounding her in a menacing suffocating manner, because wherever the human influence is absent, nature takes over.

Despite her being asleep, she has her shoes on, because a beauty should be elegant even in her slumber, behind lock and key. After all the charming prince to wake her up might come at any moment to release her from the land of Morpheus. Such poetry in your picture dear Ann.

If you don't mind me blabbering away, taking inspiration from your painting I'd like to share the story of Endymion with you.

Endymion was a shepherd and grandson of Zeus. He was so bedazzled by the moon, that he became the first man to observe its movement as it crossed the star filled firmament while he spent nights at the field tending to his sheep. Selene, the godess who led the moon through the night on her golden chariot, felt the young man's eyes on her.

She paid him some visits in a cave he used to sleep in. She fell in love with his image, but as a godess she could not stand the thought that Endymion would grow old and lose his youth's beauty. Thus she asked Zeus, to keep him this way forever. Zeus did her bidding and Endymion stayed forever asleep, inside the cave, where the godess Selene pays him visits still to this day, to just stay close to him and marvel at his eternal youth.
