Description
Honest to God. It really pisses me off when someone says a rude/homophobic/xenophobic/anti-whatever comments, and then tries to justify their rudeness by bringing up the First Amendment to the US Constitution (or other International equivalent, i.e. Universal Declaration of Human Rights). X:It's rude, inappropriate, and unnecessary no matter which way you slice it, free speech or no.
And before anyone says that everyone insults someone else, there is a difference between being rude and insulting and giving a critque of/criticizing something.

but if you don't want people to abuse free speech, wouldn't that mean you are against free speech?

I like this stamp :3
People abuse this law constantly it's quite pathetic to see grown men and women complain about childish topics.
Actually I take it back I am laughingΒ right now because people who bitch about literally nothing isn't mature at all.
Two year olds behave better.

You cannot silence unpopular opinions merely because you disagree with them. Free speech is made to protect the unwanted opinions from being unheard. That being said, freedom of speech does not protect you from people calling you out on your "hatred or rudeness." Because it is also the right of others to tell you how they feel about your hatred.
Since this is a bit topical, with a stamp on free speech, what do you think of the recent controversy with the 'Innocence of Muslims?'

This is a stupid stamp.
Freedom of speech would not exist if it was not meant to be used. It's not a privilege to be taken away, it's a right.

I am very happy I found this. I believe this wholeheartedly. Sometimes I'm just like, "No, sir, your right to free speech does NOT supersede my right to be treated respectfully." Ugh.

You know, when people say a rude/homophobic/xenophobic/anti-whatever comments, why do you bother listening to it ? Aren't you saying that "Free speech is okay as long as you ONLY say what I want to hear" ?

While it's annoying when people say something you find offensive, that's a small price to pay for having free speech.

Where does it say that in the Bill of Rights?

The First Amendment gives the right to free speech (freedom of the press), religion, assembly, and petition.

This person is effectively saying people don't have a right to be assholes and I was wondering which specific part of the Bill of Rights says that people can't be assholes. I KNOW what the First Amendment says, thank you.
