Description
This is from the website of Kents Cavern, an important Pleistocene cave site and archaeological site in the British Isles, known for finds such as the oldest radiocarbon dated Homo sapiens remains found anywhere in Europe.www.kents-cavern.co.uk/cave-an…
Danger level aside, where do I begin?
"This lion was larger than its relative in Africa today, but otherwise fairly similar." But according to you they looked nothing like actual lions, and instead looked exactly like cougars?!
cave lions=/= cougars/pumas/ mountain lions
cave lions =/= Panthera leo, cave lions = Panthera spelaea
The body length without the tail approached 2.1m rounghly, and the shoulder height likely didn't exceed 1.2m, smh

Not sure whether I should laugh, or strangle whoever came up with this.

That post would certainly appear to be more farcical than article.
On more serious note, may I please ask why so vigorous an admirer of the Cave Lion used a Llama as their namesake & mascot?

My friends and I revered llamas at the time, so I settled for that when I first joined, but I now know my true calling.
I do not regret my life as a llama, but, should anyone ever give me a core membership, I would surely add " KAYV LAYANZ " to my username instead.

Is because is the legendary Panthera leo pumoides (D. Peters, 2017), which was a lion with the head of a cougar and the body of a cougar.

Ah, yes, the respected D. Peters's new paper must sort that out. I think it forgot to mention the extra multicoloured quills and wing membranes they obviously had, as well as their inclusion within cetacea.
