Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew!I had no idea that this was shown way back in January haha It was painted as a Special Ops Card for the 2015 Imperial Assault Regional Championships

Can't wait to FINALLY show everyone some Episode VII Illustrations later this week that I painted for FFG's new Core Set .

Thumbnail, line doodle, colour sketch and then straight up digital painting to finish. Lots of references are used too to keep me right as no guess work is be allowed.

I always create little thumbnail sketches on paper first and I just take a pic on my phone or camera lol I then upload them onto photoshop and desaturate the thumbnails so no colour noise is visible. From there it's usually quick value compositions to figure out lighting. Then I'll resize thumbnails to dimensions required and proceed with a line sketch whilst using references. This is really a super quick doodle that only I'll use so it's not great or anything, but fits my needs. After that I'll do a colour sketch either clean from scratch or by painting over my quick values or sometimes by using textures or pictures for quick colour sketching/sampling. The important thing is to meet my deadline so I'm comfortable doing what I need to do in order to accomplish that goal, else no more work for me :/. I should add that I always separate background, middle ground and foreground elements. When I created the sketch for the AT-ST I used the lasso tool to create a silhouette and block in its shape. It's hardsurface and makes my job easier to mask in detail onto its shape. Same for snow speeder.

Aye, the powers that be wouldn't let me have some dead dude lying around in the snow (I think they're all Rebel sympathizers at FFG), so I tinted the cockpit with some brains instead haha
