She lives in a time and place where being in the King's harem is looked on as a desirable thing and respectful position, and society has a healthy appreciation of all aspects of femininity. She's not just a pretty face either.  She's a terrific dancer and singer and takes pride in those skills.  Overall she enjoys her life, and is one of the King's favorites.
