This is a little bit of a revisit to an old idea – “Orbit” was originally just me mucking about but became very popular for prints and publishing – however I never really thought that much about it at the time (I was literally just sketching space art as a bit of fun between projects). I loved the idea of the piece so now, 8 years on I've had another stab at it.
“A highly advanced race builds an enormous spaceport off the coast of a continent, dwafing the 20km high skyscrapers on the land, the main structure brushing the cloud layers with near 100km diameter docking spurs surrounding it. Built above the main structure, another level that is beyond the atmosphere – allowing craft to dock without braving the weather on the planet”

About 20-22 hour work.
I used some great photos of Earth from space as reference for the world.

i faved this about a week ago but didnt get around to posting yet, but this piece is rediculous mate. to me its the perfect depiction on a early reach into the near future, that has class beauty and feesability. i give it an A+ the only thing i would add is maybee 5 or 6 transports at different depths of perspective travling about to show depth and scale.

I love how despite how unfeasible a structure like that dock might seem in theory, you've presented it in such a way that I feel it's only a matter of time before one is built.
