Description There is time for fight and survival, for storms and whirlwinds.. ...
There was a time for tenderness...
But, sadly, there is also a time for parting...
A time to leave what we love or loved behind, walking towards the unknown...

Different paintings of mine, sometimes, draw different characters of collectors... I don't want to give a metaphysical aspect to this, but the first collector that bought this painting, died in a short time by unexplained causes... I prefer to call it a coincidence, others premonition on the buyers side... Who knows...
I don't believe this was the fate of subsequent owners...

So, the brave at heart, who like it, let not be afraid to fave it, although I predict many comments and few favs... Oh, well...
As everybody tells me favs are not everything...

A VERY small painting, oil on canvas...
Tassos Kouris

P.S.
The dead buyer was a doctor... The person that leaves wears something that can pass for a doctor's gown... More coincidence...
T.

A part of life, that eventually comes to all...
To be able to say goodbyes and to remember the good moments of life, would be wonderful...

many possible interpretations...

the soul leaving the physical body on the shore of this reality as it moves casually into the all encompassing sea of the Spirit ...

leaving the old persona behind as one ventures into the unfathomable mists of the future ...

standing in the surf wondering how to dispose of the body without it washing back up on the beach again ...

like i said; many possible interpretations

I could be a sweet memory
Childhood, first kiss, love
But it can bring up the pain
Misty wind mixed with water
amalgamation of past, present
And the future uncertain

the route runs off from our hands
The station is overcrowded
The doctor handle life
Hold as journey
Kill pain, disease, memory
And yet to live again

To my friend Tassos
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Yours Mimi

it makes me feel sad, but peaceful still. is it a representation of death? When I looked at it the first thought that came to my mind was that the lying figure was dead and the other is its departing soul...

Then you agree with Anna Kirstens's comment/explanation... The story of the painting is true... Seems the buyer had a premonition of his coming departure from this world...
There are 3 paintings I did, all of them meaning transition and ...well, parting...
Of the remaining two I have only one in photo.... The paintings were exhibited in the same Gallery, different exhibitions and time... All 3 byers were dead one from a brain tumor, another from cancer and the one who bought "A time for Parting" from undefined causes after a trip to India... All within a few months from the acquisition of the paintings....

I do believe in premonitions it seems too much of a coincidence for the buyers having bought their pictures just a few months before their deaths...
When something bad has happened or is going to happen, I sometimes have an odd feeling before actually knowing about it. Maybe I have inherited something form my grandmother, who had telekinesis XD

There are many things, that we know nothing about!
I did not know in advance who would buy the paintings and the probably did not know they were going to die... But something must have made a connection when they saw the themes of the paintings and they decided to buy them....
Enough of morbid things!!!

Just joking!!!! Some friends believe i am fav thirsty!!!
I keep telling them that a fav is just a clap , and tell me an artist who doesn't like that!!!
Of course that is not the reason for someone to make art!!! Art is a necessity for the mind of the artist.. But a little cheer and did not hurt, especially if you like what one is producing!!!

Totally agree. Have to say I'm really a great fav-chaser
Actually stopping by and pressing isn't hard at all but it makes the artist feel his work is valued and loved. So it's not in vain.

Well I'm not superstitious and I like it! Like still rocks in the water, the one representing the body that's been vacated, the other being the spiritual being who walks away into an unknown world...

It looks lonely though, but that in itself holds some form of appeal and is open to what might be just round the corner, or only visible to the departed soul...

I officially declare you to be, my very own, and much loved, interpreter of my surrealist works!!!!
The beauty of your explanations are giving extra dimensions to my paintings!!!!
Thanks my Anna!!!!
P.S. Of course there are always other possibilities..
They just may be a separated couple or he just leaves his love of old, going now to uncharted waters or... The only constant is the parting...
But I put, given the after sales story of the painting, your explanation extra priority!!!
P.S.
The dead buyer was a doctor... The person that leaves wears something that can pass for a doctor's gown... More coincidence...

I feel most highly honoured! Could it be that I also see the spiritual dimensions to some of your works too? I do believe the art of true surrealism has something of this in it at a level that often can't be reached in classical art! Those who don't appreciate surrealism may be less spiritually aware also? Just a thought!
