Now I am going to beg and scream for critique on this one. Portraiture is something I am quite interested in and something I would like to be half decent at.I know this is missing the white point in the eye that gives life to a character, but I really thought that in this it was not necessary, I have one with and without and prefer this version, would love to hear your thoughts.

I won't worry about originality here, since it's a portrait. Here, I'm just focusing mainly on everything else.
Now this is one of the more interesting portraits I've seen in a while. The first thing that catches my eye is the sharp highlighting on his face. Great lighting there, and it really makes him shine.
The cropping is excellent. Positioning the boy on the side and blurring the background were both excellent choices, and I believe they really change the mood of the shot for the better.
What really makes the shot is the expression you've captured on the boy. Everything is perfect; his positioning, his eyes, etc.
The only real issue I seem to be having is with the blurring of his hair, but I'm guessing that's because of the wind. It's no biggie. But then again, it may also add onto to the impact of the image, depending on the point of view.
As you mentioned, his eyes aren't highlighted at all. Normally, I would've preferred otherwise, but I think this seems to work better here.

this is very real.. I don't know.. like the same with abstract works who speak for self, so this portrait is simple to me, but in that simplicity on the first view we get in a trap and feel this: OMG, I feel him!!! well, then for me this is really great and REAL portrait.. love light, expression.. AND some memory,state from that day you shot him, passed in my brain vibes at this moment.
