Description This little guy is approximately 7" tall. I kind of have an obsession with needle-felting eyes now I think my old needle was worn or just sucked.. because the eyes were pretty quick when I used a brand new needle. Also, there is wire in his legs because I wanted him to be able to stand as well as sit, but that is entirely optional. Anyway, here is the pattern!

**Please, please, please credit me for the pattern because it took me quite a while to convert my notes into something understandable! Also, let me know if you catch any mistakes or if you have any questions!

This is amazing! It's actually inspired me to learn how to crochet from scratch XD

I've been practicing for a while now and I've just made the head, but thought of a question that I'd love to hear back from anyone who's made this.

Are all pieces to this finished off by closing them, or are some left with open tops to sew together (eg, legs)?

The pattern says to finish off every section, and I guess you could happily do either that or mix it with some open-ended pieces, but I'd love to hear from someone more experience with this.

Or, alternatively, does literally every piece finish off without closing the hole at the end?

Okay so I love this pattern but...it seems my chocobos feet are too big for the body even though I'm positive I'm following the pattern to the letter. So....what am I doing wrong? My yarn for both the body and the feet are the same size, I'm using the same hook too. :/

This is super cute! I had a question about the pattern. On the head, when you say: 'sc around 7 times' do you mean sc 7 rows?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ATCFan In reply to tattooedwonder [2016-07-20 17:30:54 +0000 UTC]

I've followed this pattern a couple times and that's what I've done for each? So I'd assume that it's what they meant. Otherwise the chocobo would have a super flat head.

what part are you having issues at? I'm making this for my first time and I didn't have issues with stitch count. Are you doing the increases (aka the hcd + the regular stitch) within the same stitch?

Thank you for this pattern ! I have offered it to my boyfriend for christmas and he was realy happy !
I'm just a little bite disappointed about the beak and I have not succeeded in the realisation of the cheeks. And it was really hard for the eyes too because I haven't roving wool ... But overall, even if it's not as beautiful as yours, I'm satisfied
(and yes, if you have notice I'm the same who have post a comment on your totoro pattern x) )

I still haven't got the equipment to try needle felting (cannot wait to tho!) so I ended up just using felt ~ (I first tried embroidering the eyes onto a base piece of felt but time was against me)

Thank you again!

Thank you so much for sharing this pattern.  It was easy enough to follow, but my little guy still didn't turn out as wonderful as yours. I think it's mostly the eyes - it's only my second try at needlefelting, so hopefully I'll improve. Even if I probably won't try again with another chocobo. So many pieces...

Can't wait to make myself one, I just can't decide what color! Do you have any tutorials or resources on your needle felting? It's a really cool technique

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aphid777 In reply to CraftyTibbles [2014-04-23 19:36:31 +0000 UTC]

I think deciding on the color is the hardest part  I wanted to make a bunch, but there were so many pieces that I got tired after one.. haha  I'll have to make some more one day

As for needle felting, I don't know of any specific tutorials.  I just searched "needle felting" on YouTube and watched a few videos to get the basic concept.  I learned mostly from playing with it on my own.. breaking needles, sustaining injuries, and whatnot  Sorry about that!  You're not the first to ask, and I feel bad that I can't be of more help!  It's really just a matter of practice!

CraftyTibbles In reply to aphid777 [2014-04-25 13:30:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the tips, can I ask what the material you use is? Felt? Is it a loose bag of fiber? I'm not sure where to find it in the craft store haha

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aphid777 In reply to CraftyTibbles [2014-04-27 02:07:47 +0000 UTC]

The material I use is called roving wool.  It's usually located right by the yarn section at craft stores (conveniently enough ).  It's sometimes a little hard to find, but I generally can find it at Hobby Lobby and Michael's.  Haven't had much luck at JoAnn's Fabrics though.  Otherwise, you can always find it for sale online
