-------
Additional Ear Pieces:
**Note: There are 2 steps to making each ear piece. Each of the corners are made separately and combined to form a single piece.
Step 1: (First, smaller piece)
1. Magic ring: 4
2. [Sc, inc] around (6)
3. Sc around (6)
4. FO
Step 2: (Second, larger piece)
1. Magic ring: 4
2. [Sc, inc] around (6)
3. [Sc 2, inc] around (8)
4. [Sc 3, inc] around (10)
5-7. Sc around 3 times (10)
Do not fasten off yet.
Combining the pieces: (continuation of step 2)
Insert hook into a stitch on the first piece made.
8. Sc 2, dec, sc 2
Insert hook back to the second piece in the stitch right next to where the first junction between the two pieces is.
9. Sc 4, dec, sc 3
The pieces should now be combined and you should have a total of 14 stitches.
10. Dec, sc 4, dec, sc 6 (12)
11. Sc around (12)
12. FO
-------
Tail:
**Note: I decided to put some thing wire into the tail for flexibility. This is entirely optional. I don't know what gauge wire I used, sorry!
**Tail is also made in a similar fashion to the ear pieces to create that slingshot shape.
Step 1: (First piece)
1. Magic ring: 6
2-7. Sc around 6 times (6)
8. FO
Step 2: (Second piece/rest of the tail)
1. Magic ring: 6
2-7. Sc around 6 times (6)
8. Sc 4, dec (5)
Insert hook into stitch on piece #1.
9. Sc 4, dec
Insert hook back to piece #2 in the stitch following the first junction you made. This will complete the combination of the two pieces. You should now have a total of 10 stitches.
10-26. Sc around 17 times <--more or less depending on how long/short you want the tail to be (10)
**Eyes and spot on the head are needle felted.

Hello! I'm using your pattern as a guide in attempt to create my own to add and I have a question:
For the head part, I'm on round 12, but I keep coming to the end with 39 instead of the 40.
I've even done calculations and I'm not sure if I've done something wrong... could you help?

Your Espeon is so adorable, all the other Eeveelutions are also so adorable, and your skull kid is absolutely the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my entire life (literally I've been freaking out about it for days).
Anyway, I had a question about this Espeon pattern. I wanted to do the felting just how you did it, but I'm a beginner, and I was just wondering what size/type of felting needle you used. Also, is there a certain type of wool you would recommend? Thank you so much for sharing all these patterns and your so amazing!

Hello Alleycats!
Inc means increase, you have to do 2 sc in the same sc below.
If you need a more detailed explanation, this video will help you more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4agka…
And sorry for my bad english ._.

can you explain the additional ear things a bit more? once you put the hook thru the first piece are you crocheting on the first piece or second? and if it's on the first then are you pulling the stitch all the way thru all the yarn on the hook or just stoping after the loops from the first piece? (kinda new to crocheting) A video for the ears would be amazing if you know of one or something you should point me in that direction

She's needle felted the eyes on. She has a short tutorial for it somewhere in her gallery, but there's also several tutorials for it on the internet.
You need special needles for it to work though, which you can buy at most arts and crafts stores.

Quick question: how do you felt the ears? I'm a little afraid that the felt will come out on the back side of the ear.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
aphid777 In reply to JutlandAngel [2014-11-27 03:39:13 +0000 UTC]
I usually put a piece of foam behind the ear and then felt on slowly, trying not to stab the needle all the way through both layers. It takes a little bit of finesse and patience. If you use a coarse needle, it might stick better without you having to stab the needle too far through.

I love your patterns (and your non-patterned projects. I'm making all the eeveelutions for my sister to give as a gift.
I think I found an error on the Additional Ear Piece:
The pieces should now be combined and you should have a total of 14 stitches.
10. Dec, sc 4, dec, sc 8 (12)
Currently that is 14 stitches not 12. Should it be sc 6 (instead of 8)?
Thank you again for sharing these patterns for free!

Hey! Your Espeon looks amazing! I am starting to make this Pattern but i am quite new to Crochet so i just had a few questions if you don't mind? What size hook did you use..(eg 4mm)? And what ply wool? I couldn't find it anywhere on her pattern! Thank you!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Vorondara In reply to SammyJane1315 [2015-03-09 19:50:31 +0000 UTC]
Thank you
Hm, I used a 3,5 mm hook for this I believe. But really, the size hook doesn't matter as long as it matches your yarn/wool. So for a thicker thread, use a bigger hook (it usually says so on the label). A somewhat thicker thread and bigger needle might be easier to start with. It will end up with the same stuffed toy, just somewhat larger with more obvious stitches.
As a beginner, pick bit of a smooth wool, not too fluffy or with threads that split apart a lot. I just used a random cotton yarn because I happened to find some in the correct colour.
(I don't know if you're dead set on doing this pattern, it's very doable but has a bunch of little parts and the ear-thingies and split tail might be a bit tricky to start with. It's doable with a bit of trial and error, but Eevee might be a tweensy bit easier to start out with, I think. The Umbreon pattern was a bit easier than Espeon, but the dark colour wool makes the stiches hard too see!
Well, maybe it doesn't differ that much.)
Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing the result
