Description
On the Day of Judgment,Celestial bodies align
On the Day of Judgment,
Bitter cold replaces warmth
On the Day of Judgment,
Light brings, not salvation, but destruction
as life watches itself die
I just love penguins don't you?
Anyway, I'm really proud of this piece as it is the most realistic one I've created so far. I really tried to give the atmosphere a bleak frozen look, and the meteors I did my best to make them as realistic as possible. Three Terragen renders, a little snow and some Photoshop postwork and this is what you get.
Tools
Terragen 9
Photoshop CS2

VERY COOL.
Reminds me of the North cave in FF7 where they shot it and shattered the green sheild.
Fantastic!

This is a fantastic pic, with great composition and feeling. The only thing here is that the meteorites look a tad evenly spaced. It would give more feeling of chaos and that whole "end-of-the-world-kinda-feel" if they were unevenly spaced, or deviated from that straight path just a tad. Just a thought! Great pic, though, and congratulations on the DD!

Good point, they probably shouldn't all be falling in the same angle and have the same path. Perhaps the end of the world will be more organized than we think. lol. And thank you.

Hm... I think there could be some improvement, in all parts.
First, the planet(s)... The different ones would be way better than only one copy and pasted and put behind another one. That makes the whole space part boring.
Next, those meteorites. I look at the one in front... Kinda thin line it leaves, relating the the one hitting that planet in the background... Theres something wrong. Same with the impacts.
And especially the one in the foreground is kinda undetailled... It looks so "flat", and the aves around it dont fit. You could try playing around with the raindrop plugin for Terragen for doing that.
To the TG part...
How did you make the terrain? With the default generator? Try WorldMachine, TerraFormer2, or something like that. Those tools are way more powerful than TG itself.
Surface looks like only a few layers, right? More of them makes more details, like soft snow, or more realistic rocks.
Mh, long text...
I hope you got time to take a look at it

Yeah, the planet copies were a mistake on my part, one that'll never happen again.
I can understand what your saying with the meteors and the impacts. This is my first time using those elements in my work. But I'll keep what you said on mind.
The Terragen terrain was just generated in Terragen. I'll have to try out WorldMachine soon, I've been wanting to but never got around to it. As for the surfaces, I so suck at those, lol. I definately need to read some tutorials for those.
Anyway, thanks for your advice and I'll definately refer to it in the future.

there's too much shadowing, check your light sources. with the amount of light coming in, there should be barely any shadows at all.
