Pfew, the biggest peace of pixelart I've done until now.

Submission for Fortnightly contest.

The idea behind this create is it is able to regenerate. But unlike other regenerating creatures like trolls, geckos or saurians it is able to regenerate even the worst damage and in some cases even if its dead. To make that possible an part of his body is dedicated only to control this regeneration, in this area, which is inside the shell, are saved genetical informations, some parts of the long-term memory as well as a big amount of fat to store energy.

So, the critiques.
First of all, I always thought that pixel art was about drawing pixel-by-pixel. If that's what you did here - I'm impressed but also confused as to why would you do that - pixel art pieces are almost always small or highly, erm, pixelated and creating 900x480 image based on this techinque... Is really strange. But I think that that's not the case and either you or me don't quite understand what the "Pixel Art" term actually means.
Anyway. While I have to admit that you've put a lot of effort in the upper part of a shell, verything else doesn't look all that good. The main problem is that the borders are just plain sloppy. I mean of course it's organic and doesn't have to be exactly straight, but they need to be more smooth. Now it just looks like it was a very fast sketch that was not improved before coloring. This is the biggest flaw of the picture and everything elese is just minor and insignificant compared to this.

the anatomy looks very interseting, including the frill on its head.
The shading and lighting are also very nice~
All in all, this is a nice peace.
