The colors go well together, are all earthy shades. And I like how the parchment roll slips over the border.
Plus the horns are adorable

I love the colors in this piece! The deep reds, greens and browns really match my idea of a faun and I think this strengths the image. I also really like how you've done the scroll. The folds are a nice touch and I like that it's coming at at the viewer.
I also really like the background of this piece. The fading gray trees are beautiful but don't steal the spotlight from the faun.
The textures are also really well done in this piece. I love what you've done to the fabric and paper to make it look so realistic.
My only critique would be that the brown border is a little overpowering. I think an oval cropping could have worked really well here.
Great work!

Wow, this is a really pretty picture, I love the Faun (it is a Faun, right? ) and the way you portrayed him, especially his facial expression and the details, such as his fluffy tail. The light colours and the dreamy atmosphere instantly create a feeling of magic and fairty tale and that itself is something I'm very into. If you want to hear some criticism too, I would have placed the character a little bit differently. Meaning: I would have placed him on a tree or branch or chair maybe, but not standing. Not that I don't like his anatomy or anything, that one's quite lovely, but honestly, would you write a long scroll standing in the forest?
I would certainly find myself some nice spot to sit down, relax and then write what I want/need to write. I hope you agree with me! Anyway, it's a really lovely pic, I love its topic - keep creating such beautiful art!

thank you so much for such a nice comment! I agree, having him sit down on a tree stump or something would have made him seem much more relaxed, I just hadn't thought about it at the time

You're welcome, dear, I really like your picture! And don't worry, I know the feeling, happens to me all the time. In hindsight there are always details that could have been more accurate or logical about a drawing or painting, I experience that quite a lot, but don't worry, your painting's great anyway!

This is for
WARNING! Some frankness so please don't take it too personally
First off, I like the use of textures on this illustration It's so papery and gives an illuminated text feeling. The colors of the robe and the faun go together nicely with the green of the grass and the ethereal blue of the fading background of the woods.
I find the two balls of light to be strange. I mean, are they or are they not emitting light because it doesn't show on the paper nor the character. The watch pinned on his robe doesn't seem logical. It's hanging from only one end, and I figure that should be dangling, not stuck to the robe like it was part of the cloth design (not to mention it's not shiny like a metal should be, no offense). The way he's leaning over is kind of illogical as well. Maybe you should've put his other leg out instead of hiding it under his robe so it appears he is balanced in his position.
It is actually a very lovely piece Something out of a storybook or a fantasy novel. You did wonderfully with the textures and the character is fair as well as fairly original in design
Best of luck with your other endeavors!

On the hand holding the rose: even if he's holding it carefully, that is generally not how you hold something of that shape. His other hand looks good though. If that's grassy turf or even mossy loam, his hoof should be a little different perspectie wise and sinking a bit into the dirt/grass/moss. I do love your use and blending of color.

thank you for tha advice! Not used to drawing "hoofed" creatures so there's a lot of practice still needed to get it right.
Also, I understand what you're saying about the rose, I just wanted it to seem like he's holding it delicately

The way you did the trees in pastel colors really helps the figure stand out. His expression is adorable and even if their are shading mistakes it still gives him form which is always nice c:

I love the linework around his face; it's really quite elegant! That typography is also quite fun.
So he's writing out the end of 2012? Because I notice that 2011 is the number right before it...>.>
