Yesss I'm glad you finally got to play it! Join me in crippling addiction oh gosh tell me it's not just me. *has never logged this many hours in a game other than Pokemon* I mean... I'm really glad you were so amused by this. Thanks for telling me, haha. xD
Who was your favorite character?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kristykimmy In reply to aquanut [2013-11-26 20:57:41 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I really can't pick a favorite. I really liked them all, and I have so many supports left to do.Β
I gotta say, Henry is no end of creepytastic to use. His chirpy 'YAY, BLOOD!' both had me rolling with laughter and scared. But, I supported him with Sumia, and he totally won me over with how precious he was in those supports.Β
Tharja and her stalking also was awesome.Β
Honestly, I could talk forever about all the little interactions with others that made me love each and every character.Β
Anna is totally one of my favorites, though. Having seen her forever through the games, and finally getting to use her made my day. Especially with her battle cries that are shop talk. 'I make deep cuts' is my favorite. XD
Of course, the main cast. I don't think I've loved the main hero this much since Eliwood (Though, I was pretty fond of Ike and more so of Ephraim). Chrom is so much awesome. Β
Honestly, after Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn with its non-supports, I really can't have enough love for Awakening and all the possible supports. I've been up to other things, such as some art, other games, and, of course, finishing up NaNo, but I'm sure Fire Emblem will top my hours played list soon.

Haha, same here. Well, I've made a considerable dent in the supports at this point, but still it drives me crazy because every time I complete a new one I want to draw it and I can't draw them all. Actually I really want to break myself of my FE13 addiction because it's like I can't draw anything else right now haha, and I want to do stuff for other things as well.
Ahaha I really like Henry and Sumia's supports as well, would have done that pairing on my first playthrough if Chrom hadn't auto-married her first. Henry's probably my favorite character in the game for his bizarre sense of humor. He's the kind of character I would normally dislike but the way they pulled it off just makes him funny to me. Only if I'm not taking him seriously, though. I avoid taking him seriously because if I do then he's definitely disturbing as all get out. (Supposedly he was more childlike and didn't crack jokes in the original version, though; he got changed a lot in the localization, I've heard. I think I often kinda try to make him more like that, even though I don't have a perfect idea of what he's originally like.)
Ahaha, I usually have little love for stalkers but Tharja's standoffish attitude and her usefulness in battle did make me warm up to her.
I love that Anna is finally playable, too! All her shop talk quotes are great. I really like her voice too when you stop in at the merchant stores.
Ah yes I've seen a lot of love for Chrom going around. I usually don't get that attached to the lords actually (Lyn aside), but I appreciated Lucina a great deal. I like Chrom's battle animation; it's so much fun watching the cinematics (and the gorgeous cutscenes).
Oh yeah I'm so happy that they went all-out with the supports on this one, especially after the disappointment of RD supports. I just dislike that I end up wanting to draw them all haha. I'm not sure how I feel about the marriage system; it was fun for one game but I'm not sure I want to see it become a staple, because I miss when two opposite-sex characters could have a relationship that wasn't romantic.

I really want to draw the scene where Chrom offers to carry the player character and Lissa freaks out because she wants to be carried. Mostly, I just wanna draw Lissa making a cranky face, she has a good one. I'm totally gonna do that one of these days. XD
No, you can't take Henry seriously. He doesn't take himself seriously, and he's still creepy as all get out no matter what. His hilariousness, pranking, and horrible puns save him from being awful. Seriously, though, the part where Chrom offers to put him out of his misery if he doesn't stop the puns was so funny. Somehow, I can't really imagine Henry being childish, like Ricken. It would be interesting to see though.Β
I fully supported Chrom before the marriage part, so what happens when he auto-marries? Do they instantly S support without the conversations, or do you still have to earn those supports?Β
Did you fully support Anna with Tiki yet? I liked their final support.Β
I love the battle animations. Usually by this many levels into a game I've turned them off, but they are just so good. And, I love watching everyone work together, and their battle quotes. Mirriel with her extensive vocabulary amuses me a good deal. I wanted more cutscenes.
Honestly, without having another game where you have kids to show up as characters, I can't see them doing that all the time. Friendship is great, magic even. ^-^

aquanut In reply to Kristykimmy [2013-11-27 13:58:21 +0000 UTC]
Hahaa we can always use more cranky Lissa faces in the world, I'd love to see it. xD
Haha yeah that was great. I love his whole recruitment convo. This is an interesting summary of the Henry localization changes... He does come across as older and more sadistic in English, while in Japanese he seems almost innocent about the harshness of a death's consequences. They're basically two different characters and I have a bad habit of unintentionally mixing them because I've picked up influences from both.
At the end of Chapter 11 Chrom instantly S-supports with whoever he has the highest support rank with and you see the special convo where he asks her to marry him, but you have to go to the support log to view the earlier supports if you didn't get them already. (But no, you don't have to earn the supports once he's married.) I swear the game ships Chrom/MU in the story cutscenes. I got A rank with him really fast on my feMU file because teaming up was strategically useful, and then I had to grind his supports with other women to avoid auto-marrying him haha. I have no idea why they felt the need to write new dialogue for the Chrom/feMU supports when the Chrom/maMU supports do a much better job of actually building a relationship instead of just having a cheap awkward shower scene, but I guess all the main storyline interaction is what sells the pairing.
I've been getting all of Tiki's supports because I like her, and yes, I enjoyed the A support with Anna. Think Anna got what she deserved in that one, haha.
I usually turn them off really fast too, or only leave them on for certain characters, but it's so much fun hearing them deliver critical quotes that I toggle them on much more frequently in this game. Plus it's fun to see the stage environments. Miriel's vocabulary amuses me a lot too, but her emotionless nature puts me off. I wanted to like her more than I did, but oh well.
Yesss friendship is definitely magic. *highfive* My only concern is that this game was such a success that I think they could take the exact same system and just bring in a whole new batch of characters and supports without changing anything about the mechanics, and it'd be another hit. Also, players would never get anything done again.

Huh, that's really interesting the way things can change in translation. I don't know though, I think I like English version Henry a little better reading about the differences.
I haven't played as a boy yet (I will at some point to see the other convos), but yeah, after the first one where Chrom tells the player she isn't a lady (which was funny), they were just awkward and kind of embarrassing. I was totally sold on them through scenes like the one I mentioned wanting to draw. Also, the end scene where Chrom proposes with the sparkles and the pink bg, I'm certain that was supposed to be corny, but oh man, was that corny. XD;
I got all of Tiki's supports right away, because it was fun to have her back (I've played Shadow Dragon and was interested to see how she'd grown) and was interested in what seemed like fairly unusual supports.
Well, I suppose that could happen, but I'm just gonna hope for the best. I'm glad that at least in this game you get all the supports but S with all the units. The limit of 5 in the other games could be a little annoying, but it certainly made you come back to play more. XD

aquanut In reply to Kristykimmy [2013-11-27 19:43:45 +0000 UTC]
It's one of the biggest translation changes I've heard about in a long time. I think E!Henry comes across with a somewhat more forceful, attention-grabbing personality and is probably a more memorable character, but I think I would prefer J!Henry personally. I think they're both good characters in their own ways, though.
The particularly frustrating thing is when you realize that most of the convos are pretty much identical for both genders, so Chrom being an exception seems random and annoying, especially when their bond is built up so much better in the story. Also, yeah, I'm pretty sure all the confession scenes are designed to remind you that you're playing a dating sim disguised as a strategy game. They can be kinda funny sometimes, but for the most part yeah, really corny.
Ahh I haven't played Shadow Dragon, I wanted to but then I heard reviews that said it wasn't as good, so I gave it a miss. I'm glad Tiki gets more supports than the other "special" characters that can often only support with the avatar or maybe one other person.
Yeah, I really like that as well; of course, I end up looking up all the supports online anyway for reference at some point, so it amounts to the same thing for me in the end. Getting all the possible parent/child support combinations still takes some doing, though. I definitely don't have the patience to keep reloading while testing every combination.

Kristykimmy In reply to aquanut [2013-11-27 23:26:54 +0000 UTC]
I dunno, maybe they decided that because he was a 'special character' he deserved different supports? Β
Well, Shadow Dragon was just a remake of the original Fire Emblem game, so it wasn't quite as good as the others, which have had time to grow, but it was fun enough. I got it because (I'm a huge fangirl who hasn't missed a game since they started coming over here) I was interested in knowing about Marth after his appearances in Smash Brothers.Β
That's one of the only real complaints I have about the game is that there are so few supports for later characters, particularly the special ones from the bonus. Chrom and a certain red armored character probably would have had interesting supports.
Ha, that's funny. I didn't even know people posted things like that to the internet (back when I was an internet noob who only used it for Neopets) while playing SS. I played that game like a hundred times to get supports and see how it changed the character endings. Still, I don't usually look up supports, because I always tell myself that I'll do them all eventually. (And, I very well might. XD)

aquanut In reply to Kristykimmy [2013-11-28 12:14:57 +0000 UTC]
Or maybe the localization team saw an opportunity to enhance his character so they took it? I do like the result.
Yeah, that was what made me curious, because I wanted to know about Marth as well. I still might play it at some point, but the Jugdral games would take priority because I still haven't gotten to those either and they interest me more. FE9 was my first and I went backwards to the GBA games from there. I kind of wish PoR and RD weren't console games because I prefer the handheld format with sprites.
Yeah, that would have been interesting. I felt like this game was more... lighthearted than earlier installments of the series, like the supports were more often meant to be funny or emphasize each character's gimmick. It's fantastic of course but I found myself missing the tone of the older games, and I have mixed feelings about the self-insertion aspect.
Haha, I had already discovered fandom by that time, though I didn't start looking up supports for a long while because honestly, it took me quite some time of playing before I even figured out how to activate supports (I was a huge noob at the series when I first got into it). Yeah, the replayability value in these games is huge. Good luck with getting them all, I totally believe you can do it. xD I look them up to refresh my memory of what they were even if I've already gotten them.

I like handhelds better too, for every game. But, I have lots of competition for the consoles, so that might be why. XD;
Yeah, I think you're right about it being lighter-hearted overall. None of the games have been quite as painful as FE7 in my opinion. Every time I finally stopped crying, something happened to make me start again in that one. I keep hoping that someday they will translate and bring over 6. That, or I will learn Japanese just to play it.
One of the things I loved best about FE7 was being part of the game, and while I did love being a character in Awakening, it didn't quite capture that fun because you were a playing a character, not being in the game. I loved it when the characters in FE7 would look out of the screen and address you.Β
I don't remember if I naturally discovered them, or my gamer brother who introduced me to FE told me about them.Β I was a total noob too, if it makes you feel better. I remember my first playthrough of FE7. After Lyn's mode where you get everyone back, I didn't realize that fallen units were gone forever, so by the time I reached the level where you recruit Lyn I was down so many units the level was unbeatable. I had to reset and start over from the very beginning.Β But, it was a good lesson, and since then, I almost never let units die.Β

aquanut In reply to Kristykimmy [2013-11-29 01:16:54 +0000 UTC]
Haha, that makes sense. xD I always feel like it's more of a production to go and turn on a console than to just start up a handheld game while on a train or something, so I find playing on handhelds more convenient as well.
FE7 definitely had one of the more tragic/gripping stories, and it's my favorite for it; I wasn't as invested in the plots of any of the other games. Ahh, actually there's a new FE6 fan translation that I keep meaning to play through. I need to learn Japanese as well though because half the artists I want to talk to online are Japanese haha. I really need to work at it more.
I didn't particularly care one way or the other about FE7's tactician aspect and probably would have preferred it without to be honest, but I can see how the difference between FE7 and FE13's handling of it would make FE13 less immersive.
I don't remember how I first heard about FE; I think it may have been because of reading a certain Zelda/Fire Emblem crossover fanfic way back when I first got into the Zelda fandom, or else it was because of Katie Tiedrich's comics. Fandom was definitely involved somehow though. Heh, nice to know I wasn't the only one who made mistakes. xD; Yeah, it's better to restart an FE game if it's going that badly, haha. When I got to the end of FE9 and saw the endings, I felt so bad about letting Oscar die (it was one of the early chapters and I was just like "eh, I'm too lazy to reset" because I didn't have the proper attitude that developed after playing more chapters) that I never let a unit die again.

Yeah, me too. I like being able to pop a game in my pocket, wander around, and then go back to playing wherever I am. The Wii U is great since a lot of games can be played directly on the game pad, so I can wander a little with it. I like being able to pop in headphones, turn off the TV, and be able to sprawl in a chair in the corner instead of having to sit in front of the TV.Β
Pretty much every game I've ever played I heard about through my older brother. That, or they belonged to my siblings and I borrowed them and got hooked. Professor Layton was gotten for my kid brother for his birthday, and while everyone loves and plays the games, I'm the one who actually collects and plays them first now. (I played my brother's Professor Layton 1 and 2 first because he was like 'If you play them first, I can pester you on how to solve the puzzles!' The best problem solving he ever did.)
Not Oscar! D8 Β It's funny, it took me a while to realize I could go into a level with a less than full team, which saved the lives of many less than useful characters who kept dying on me even when I tried to hang them back.Β

I don't like sitting in front of a TV either and prefer lying on the floor or a chair if I'm playing a handheld at home, so that aspect of the Wii U seems really great. On the other hand I do prefer a bigger screen for eyestrain-related reasons, so I don't know if I'd use the gamepad all the time. I guess we'll see when/if I get a Wii U... WWHD and Pikmin 3 are the current reasons I would get one, but I'm in no rush.
The first games I played were ones my dad bought for me when I was around five years old. After that, I discovered them by seeing them at stores or at the internet, or kids around me playing them. Haha, Professor Layton is such an awesome series. I love the art and character designs so much. Honestly I think the art and tone are 90% of the reason I play it, but the puzzles are pretty addicting too.
I know, I'm sorry Dx Haha oh yeah, I usually forgot I could do that too, but more because I liked to try and bring in as many units as possible to spread the EXP around. But it's definitely useful to go in with fewer members sometimes.

Kristykimmy In reply to aquanut [2013-11-29 19:10:52 +0000 UTC]
The Wii U gamepad is bigger than a DS screen, and playing Earth Bound was totally comfortable on the gamepad. I also played Radiant Dawn on the gamepad, and while the screen was big enough to comfortably use it as a screen, it did cause neck strain since Wii games still need to be played with a Wii controller even using the gamepad as a screen. I had to sit with the pad propped on my knees holding the Wii-mote. I really don't recommend using the gamepad as a screen for Wii games if you don't have to. On the whole, I've not used the Wii U a lot since most of my areas of interest are in handhelds, but I find myself enjoying using the Wii U a little more than I did the Wii.
The art is totally the reason I got into Professor Layton, too. From the beginning, the style of Professor Layton reminded me of cartoons from my early childhood. I've never had a new game series give me so much nostalgia. The puzzles are fun too, I like puzzles, but yeah, the tone and the quirky characters and art are what really drew me in.
Dropping out less maneuverable classes is definitely a plus in some levels. Meg in Radiant Dawn comes in at a really bad time, because a lot of the levels are just not made for someone with as low a range of movement as she has.

aquanut In reply to Kristykimmy [2013-11-29 21:17:00 +0000 UTC]
Ahh, I forgot that Earthbound is available for Wii U, make that the third reason for getting it. I'm ashamed I still have never finished an Earthbound game... People recommend games to me all the time but I wonder when they think I'll have time to make fanart if I play them all haha. Hmm, the thing with the controller does sound uncomfortable, but good to know it can be used as a gamepad for VC games. I already liked the Wii quite a bit so that's good to know you're finding the Wii U to be an improvement.
Absolutely, that's why I love it too. The tone is so polite and proper and it's just so enjoyable to explore the environments and meet the characters. The endings of the stories are usually kind of out of the blue, but I do love the cutscenes, such a wonderful nostalgic animation style.
Yeah, in most levels I've always generally avoided using classes with low movement because they tend to get left behind. I wish Meg were more useful and less of the typical comic relief type character you'd expect based on her looks, but oh well.

Nintendo must love me for my endorsements. XD
How long does it usually take you when you draw?Β
The endings depend on the game, I think. Unwound Future and Last Specter, yeah parts of that did feel like it came out of the blue, but the first two, having played it several times now, I realize that enough hints were there (I figured out what the Golden Apple was, and had a suspicion about the villagers during the first playthrough, though). Miracle Mask was so obvious that I actually saw it coming very early on and was certain it was a trick. I felt like Miracle Mask was just meant to be a bridge for the coming game though, so I don't think it was trying hard on story. Have you seen the Layton Movie? I loved how they managed to work the tone of the game in there, including the puzzle music.
Being Brom's daughter, and having made good use of him in PoR, I was pretty disappointed with her too.Β

aquanut In reply to Kristykimmy [2013-11-29 23:12:34 +0000 UTC]
Then they should love me too because I draw all this fanart, which is basically free advertisement. xD
Depends, but usually 5-6 hours for one of those pictures of two characters like the Cordelia and Sumia or Henry and Ricken stuff, and 10-12 hours for a bigger scene like I'll Be Back By Morning or Almost of Age. So You Speak to Me of Sadness and Winds Across the Plains each took me a week, where I was doing almost nothing else in my free time (and I have a lot of free time). Neopets AG entries take me an average of 2 hours. The stained glass window things are exhausting and have to take around 40 hours but I've never timed them.
Yeah, you have a point; Curious Village had my favorite story I think, because I did enjoy learning about the family. Ah, but I just remembered I haven't played the last two games whoops. I was bummed that they took the entire RPG out of Specter's Call in the European version because it would take too long to translate or something, and I kept holding off on picking them up because I was waiting to find English versions. (Oh man, we actually own the Layton movie and my mom has seen it but I haven't, which is ridiculous and I have to just sit down and watch it one day because it looked like it kept the tone of the game really well and I'm glad to hear from you that it does.)

Yeah, you win. *gives you endorsement trophy* XD
One of the things I really love about your art are the backgrounds, particularly in nature. Do the characters or backgrounds take you longer?
I think Curious Village is my favorite too. That's terrible. It was really cute. The RPG was little repetitive on earning money, and that part could get tiring fast (because you do need quite a bit), but very cute. One of the best things about the Layton movie is getting a full hour (or more, I don't remember how long it is) of Layton art, though getting used to the European Luke took a little bit of time. Layton has the same voice for us, but Luke has a different one.Β
But, it comes after the Last Specter, and features characters introduced in that game, so it is a little spoilerish if you haven't played it. Thankfully, I knew that, because my parents didn't. They bought it for me before I got the game, so I decided to splurge and bought myself the game and then passed it around so we could all watch the movie together. (Though, I totally watched the movie first while they were still winning it and teased them.)

*accepts endorsement trophy* I'd like to thank my parents who let me live in their basement and draw videogame fanart-- *brick'd*
Well, thank you, I'm glad you like my backgrounds. It depends on the picture, but for anything not super simple the lineart usually takes the longest. Usually about 65% of the time is spent tracing outlines from the sketch, and that's why the stained glass windows are so hard because the entire picture is basically covered in lineart. But backgrounds can take a while too depending on how complicated they are. It really depends on how detailed the characters/props are compared to how detailed the background is. FE and FF characters wear too many belts so they usually take longer to draw than anything else in the picture, especially if I'm drawing a group.
Aw, I bet it was cute. Too bad, though I doubt I would've had the patience to play the whole thing anyway, as I'm so bad about finishing games these days. The art is the exact reason why I want to see that movie (because honestly, the art is the main reason I play the games anyway so this pretty much just foregoes the excuse gameplay and cuts to the chase) and I've got to remember to do it; I don't even know where it is in our house right now, but I'll find it... Ah yeah, voice differences always take some getting used to. I prefer both English Lukes to the Dutch one, which I find grating; when I found English copies of Curious Village and Pandora's Box I couldn't switch to the British Luke fast enough haha. They usually don't even bother to translate games into Dutch (especially not with voice acting) but I guess Layton has so much text that they thought it'd be necessary for kids to play it.
Ahh, that must have been fun haha. xD I'm not super picky about spoilers for a lot of games these days, although I still haven't gotten through Ni no Kuni or Xenoblade (*shame*) and am avoiding looking up stuff for them since I do care about the stories in those. Ni no Kuni's art style is basically a dream come true since I love Studio Ghibli, and I love the music in Xenoblade (plus its environments are beautiful as well, though the style isn't as unique).

*applauds wildly* Short speeches are the best.
I admire you actually drawing the stained glass window, because I'd probably try to cheat with a photoshop effect rather than actually drawing it. I've been getting very fond of drawing linelessly, not only because it sort of feels like painting, but because lineart takes ages. *Hasn't worked on her comics for this reason and is beginning to feel guilty*Β
I usually finish my video games (unless I just quit for some reason), but I'm super bad about finishing TV series I start, even if I'm interested in them. XD; At least I don't drop audio books, but only because they are sort of an excuse to play video games. But, yes, find that movie!
I've gotten super picky about spoilers in the games I like the older I've gotten, actually. I read about Ni no Kuni back when Nintendo Power still existed. I was pretty impressed by the idea of Studio Ghibli doing the art, since I knew they were beautiful. However, that was before I saw Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle and a few others. I'm so in love with the scenery in those movies.Β

*bows* Thank you. xD
Hahaa if you figure out a way to get that effect without drawing all the lineart please tell me. I would use a Photoshop effect in a heartbeat if I knew how, but I don't think there's a way to get around tracing it all off if I want it to look clean. I've been trying for years to figure out how to get away with faster/rougher lineart and it always just ends up looking sloppy. Lineless styles are nice but I find them hard to pull off well, because if you try to paint with shading but without lines you tend to get this strange sharp-edged paper cutout look that looks flat in a bad way, because the way light falls on objects naturally creates a kind of outline around things in everyday life so it looks odd if that's missing in art. (Gigidigi, who does the webcomic Cucumber Quest, definitely is a master of a lineless style though; I absolutely love the art in that comic.) I like the fact that I don't have to worry about lineart in paintings, but then they take a long time for other reasons haha.
I am very bad at finishing anything really, haha. My attention span sometimes seems to get shorter as I get older and I've got this huge list of animated TV shows and movies I still need to watch. I watch basically nothing but cartoons and I can't even keep up with them all haha. Ahh, multitasking while playing videogames is always nice. I've never really liked audiobooks because I read to myself faster than people usually read aloud and I prefer imagining the voices myself (actually, voiced dialogue boxes in videogames bother me for the same reasons, though more the former than the latter--although I don't mind fully acted cutscenes with subtitles).
Studio Ghibli will forever be my favorite animation studio; I first saw one of their movies when I was two years old (it may actually have been the first movie I ever saw in my life; I can't remember anything before that) and I've been hooked for a lifetime haha. I too was thrilled about the idea of a Ghibli/Level 5 collaboration, since I also love Level 5's art. Ni no Kuni's gameplay feels fairly standard for an RPG, but the visuals are definitely gorgeous and make it stand out. I get Zelda vibes from its dungeon/puzzle design, too.
Speaking of Level 5, I actually played Inazuma Eleven for the art as well, because it has this really nice cartoon style. (And also because I see Japanese fanart for it by a lot of my favorite artists.) It's a decent game but I think most of the hype comes from the TV show, which seems to be like a modern-day Pokemon type show where all these little boys have soccer battles with fancy kick attacks. And like Pokemon it has too many episodes and looks too repetitive for me to feel like watching it, although I keep seeing people who love it haha.

I actually shade using different methods depending on my mood, either using different levels of the burn and dodge tool, or I make a shading layer where I do all the shading and then duplicate that layer using the color layer and then adjust the brightness and contrast to get it right. I tend to the burn and dodge tool when lineless because it doesn't give you the possibility of hard angles the other one does. Of course, using the burn tool means I have to spend probably the most time on the shading, but it works well enough.Β
Mine too, and I'm way more easily distracted than I -SQUIRREL!!!!- used to be. I like audio books because it's not very easy to get my hands on new books anymore. We never have time to go to the library, and I can't remember the last time I was near a book store. I listen to a lot of history books, though, which are actually more interesting to hear. It's almost like a lecture in that way. I don't play a lot of fully voiced games, so when I played Mass Effect for the first time, it was my first time playing a fully voiced game (not just ones with cut scenes or occasional phrases) and I loved it. But, I like voices. One of the first things I notice about people most is whether or not I like their voice, so that probably is why I like games with voices.Β
One of the saddest things for me with Disney is that they are all computer animation nowadays. Movies like Tarzan and Aladdin make me wonder why they ever stopped. I borrowed HMC and Spirited Away because Azzie was having a total love fest over the first, and I'd heard about Spirited Away for years. I was hooked from the moment I started watching because the art was just so beautiful.
I'm sorry, but the way you describe the anime has me rolling with laughter. I've never heard of either the anime or the game before. Still, you don't need to get into the Pokemon anime. It used to be fun when 4Kids had it. I mean, sure, it had its problems and could be repetitive even then. But, since they dropped it, it went down horribly. It has the worst voice acting I've ever heard, the characters have the stupidest dialogue, and the animation is stale. My little siblings kept watching it for a long time after I gave up, but my older brother realized that they weren't into it enough to be sorry to stop watching, so he stopped recording it because he said he said it had gotten so bad it was mauling his childhood. Still, at least the games are still fun. I love filling out my Pokedex. I did that in 100 hours in Black and White 1.

Yeah, separate shading layers are really useful, I do that most of the time too. (although sometimes for simple cel-shaded things I shade on the same layer) I always just pick shading colors off the color wheel because it gives me greater control over the result.
Hahaha I laughed at the Up reference Ah yeah it's a shame paper books are getting a bit old-fashioned since I really prefer the feel of a book in my hands. I've always had a really short attention span for listening to things, unfortunately. Mass Effect is really great to play with voices, and I like how my copy is also fully voiced in French if I ever want to hear how that sounds. I also like how the voice acting done in Valve games, where characters just talk to you and you don't even have to press a button to initiate conversation; it feels more natural and immersive.
I love both 2D and 3D animation, but I do wish Disney would keep making 2D films in addition to their 3D ones. (Tarzan is one of my childhood favorites, partly due to the music.) Ghibli films are all artistic masterpieces, and HMC and Spirited Away are a couple of my favorites; the art is so detailed in those. Though I also love the simpler Ghibli styles like Ponyo.
Ha, I'm glad it was amusing. xD I think it's more popular with Japanese fans, as I see more art for it on Pixiv. I've never liked the Pokemon anime much and stopped following it after the first season; I was always much more into the videogames, manga and TCG as a kid. I've never actually had the patience to complete a PokeDex, but congratulations on doing that in B/W; that's quite an accomplishment!

Oh, me too. I'm very bad at reading books on computers. I have a couple on my phone, but I've never gotten through anything fully because I find myself spacing in front of it. I can handle a chapter at a time, or short stories, and I'm fine with writing and revising.Β
Valve games are great. It's been ages since my brother played Half-Life so I only half remember those games, but Portal was awesome. I liked 2 better than the original, probably because of Cave Johnson and having to team up with GLADoS. XD
Movies like Tangled were great for the 3D animation, with her hair and lanterns, and Wreck-It-Ralph has a better video game feel than it would have in 2D. I miss the 2D Disney cartoons, too. Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, and especially Gargoyles (before the final season) were all amazing in their different styles.
We got the occasional manga, and we were all into the TCG a good deal (the younger ones still are, I just like to collect them still sometimes), but the games have always been the main interest. My older brother and I filled out our Pokedexes back in Red and Blue, and then I didn't do it again till B/W. The addition of the GTS has made it possible to trade for all the Pokemon I couldn't catch in my game. It's a really nice feature.Β
