Description
Waiting for the real macro lens (tomorrow!), I decided to practice with the 17-85 IS USM kit lens in the meantime. A bit difficult to take nice macro shots with it, and I still need some time to get used to the new camera and way of shooting. 2 out of 80 shots were usable in the end.

Couldn't sleep well, so I went out really early this morning, around sunrise, and just walked around in a meadow for an hour and a half. Should have known that grass is very wet at that time of day, didn't take long until my pants were soaked up to my knees.

The insect is a crane fly (Tipula), can't identify which species (according to Wikipedia, there are at least 14,000...)

The focus is a bit off, but it looks acceptable to me after resizing. Other processing: Very slight level adjustment and a fair amount of cropping.
